Astro Bot is pure joy. It’s like fragment of childhood sealed away and suddenly uncorked. It’s like jumping into a ball pit as a grown-arse adult. It’s magic.

The only part I despise about astrobot is it consistently reminding me of all these amazing franchises that have not had a new game recently. I should not have to play a 3D platformer to experience characters from ape escape, patapon, bloodborne, or loco roco.
It really was a special experience. Team Asobi is a studio to watch now more than ever.
The sites, critics and everything else midia keeps giving lots of attention to the flops, trying to battle against the customers, while deliberately ignoring the great games that emerged. They could use them as examples and to make tons of interviews and in depth content about the making and etc. , but no, they deliberately don't do it.
The good guys need to react already.
At the end of the day, these hyper polished “Mario 3D Land” linear platformers are so cost effective to develop that they’ve effectively taken over the genre. They’re reliable money makers, and, while I think they do have an important place in the market, I also can’t help but wonder how many mlrd quality open world platformers we would have had over the last couple of generations if this subgenre didn’t exist.
Astro Bot is a gorgeous game that carries a ton of obvious passion about the medium from the devs, but I lament the fact that such a talented group isn't being given quadruple the resources and the creative freedom to make something truly innovative.
I guess I just don't know how much more room this genre has to grow when these games are being confines to these kind of linear experiences.
