Astro Bot is pure joy. It’s like fragment of childhood sealed away and suddenly uncorked. It’s like jumping into a ball pit as a grown-arse adult. It’s magic.

I play a lot on PC nowadays but my partner and I decided to pick this up last week and got the platnium just recently… probably the most unique, fun and clever games I've ever played… I'm so happy this is on Playstation ❤

@jameslwjtoler December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Spoiler!

The only part I despise about astrobot is it consistently reminding me of all these amazing franchises that have not had a new game recently. I should not have to play a 3D platformer to experience characters from ape escape, patapon, bloodborne, or loco roco.

It really was a special experience. Team Asobi is a studio to watch now more than ever.

Great to see this win GOTY this year at the Game Awards

@JustPlay310 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

@khalidamajoud4114 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Goty! 😎

@Carlisho December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

I voted for Wukong, but I cant be mad, this little game deserves the GOTY.

@ErmIDK19 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

This is my contender for game of the year ! What do you mean it already won ?. But I've still not finished the 1st one

@Ctworld15 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

This kids game is better than black myth wukong??????? wtf

@lov.2.g December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

how did this win game of the year…oh god

@naikyou December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Not sure this would be for me since I didn't exactly like Mario Odyssey either and don't think I would care for the controller gimmicks. It's good that we're still getting polished single player experiences, though.

@sayantanchatterjee3626 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

AND now it sweeped the game awards, including GOTY. Who woulda thunk.

@SPIGERgames December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

G.O.T.Y. ❤

@chrislive1586 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Congratulations on GOTY 2024 Astrobot!

@bortnessundine2397 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

@PANCHO15108 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Alright Mr. Skill up, I have returned after I Platinumed Astro Bot. This game is fucking incredible. I find it impossible to not give it a perfect score personally. Please buy this game everyone it's so damn good.

@mikec1554 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Ori criminally underrated

@Scienceboy0 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

0:16 Took your advice and damn am I so happy I did. Just bought it and played it the whole way through, no spoilers. It's so, so good.

@Bigparr43 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

I support MORE Rabbids games as long as they are involved with Mario in odd strategy games

@Wesmin December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Take a drink every time he says "also" 😛 Seriously though, this game looks great thanks for the review. 🙂

@joeinzinga6123 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Easily my goty

@matthewgregory2106 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Never felt so much magic since booting up Mario Galaxy for the first time.

@VincentValentino December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Thats a lot of words and yet says nothing useful about the game. Fangirl geeking out basically lol

@Strix2031 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Kinda reminds me of A Hat in Time

@brupleal December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

There is something very dishonest and disturbing happening in the game industry. People like the ones that made this game need to react already.
The sites, critics and everything else midia keeps giving lots of attention to the flops, trying to battle against the customers, while deliberately ignoring the great games that emerged. They could use them as examples and to make tons of interviews and in depth content about the making and etc. , but no, they deliberately don't do it.
The good guys need to react already.

@ASTROGOTY24 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

GOTY it's perfect

@SexyBlueTiger December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

@23dmac23 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Just rolled credits with around 70% completion and have come back to watch this. Holy shit what an experience. The physical toy analogy is perfect.

@Scimarad December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

I've just remembered to come back here after platinuming it:)

@geoffreyporter7567 December 23, 2024 - 1:26 pm

Hot take: Astro Bot is both a very good and well made game, and also a perfect representation of what is wrong with the platforming genre today.

At the end of the day, these hyper polished “Mario 3D Land” linear platformers are so cost effective to develop that they’ve effectively taken over the genre. They’re reliable money makers, and, while I think they do have an important place in the market, I also can’t help but wonder how many mlrd quality open world platformers we would have had over the last couple of generations if this subgenre didn’t exist.

Astro Bot is a gorgeous game that carries a ton of obvious passion about the medium from the devs, but I lament the fact that such a talented group isn't being given quadruple the resources and the creative freedom to make something truly innovative.

I guess I just don't know how much more room this genre has to grow when these games are being confines to these kind of linear experiences.
