The quality of the IR, much like a nerf, is completely dependent upon the quality of the gear used and the mic placement. IR developers will go through multiple of the same cabinet type trying to find the best specific speaker for capturing. Every little detail is important because you're essentially modeling a specific set of circumstances as an equalizer filter layer to put after your guitar amplifier (like a real cabinet does). Idk, may be worth looking into. I see a lot of similarities between the 2 technologies.
I hope NERFs take off, since I'd love to see the return of practical fx more in movies. Such a beautiful art.
