7:23 Ive worked with UE5 for a year on a student team. It was very easy to use their built in systems to make a realistic looking game with just students. Where as for unity they don’t give you a ton of built in systems you either need to choose which ones to use, buy custom made ones, or make them yourself they don’t just come prepackaged when you start a new project.
4:56 so does unity. Godot is open source so you don’t have to pay anyone to use the engine. Which is why a ton of indie devs are switching to godot over unity
2:20 it’s costs a lot to R&D a custom engine. Maybe the numbers work out that it’s cheaper to use UE5 and pay them than it is to have your own engine.
GPU prices are absolutely out of control, I went back to console and bought a PS5 Pro.
No way could I get 1440p with ray traced GI for $600 on PC.
I don’t think UE5 is killing gaming, upscalers are. Games aren’t being optimized because you can just abuse DLSS/FSR instead. Some games have been really well optimized on UE5 and I can play 1440p with RT on my 3060ti. Then games like Stalker come out. 😊
Great points. I would like to say that Unreal is great for out the box shaders for photorealism, but Unity is very capable of realtime photorealistic raytraced shading and great potential. Developing a style is possibly harder than realism, from my programmer's mindset.
They gain a percentage of every game that makes over 1 million. That miss information. As a ue5 dev myself this is what help me pick over Unity engine.
Havent watched ur vid yet, but I dunno if you know, but this guy copied another video that covers the same topic from 4 months ago. I dont mean he copied the idea. He copied several parts of the script and used the same clips in his vid.
every dev these days only know unreal engine these days lol
i hope you make it big you are pretty fun to watch
if every game looks the same because Unreal Engine has been looksmaxxxing for the past 10 years, then that is not a diversity crisis in gaming. its the opposite. we need more unique and different artwork in gaming. or did i misunderstand?
