While I don't doubt your sincerity and honesty of your review, I think it would have been good form to mention in your review that you are sponsored by this game's publisher.

I have a friend getting this soon from the Kickstarter so I'm keen to try it. Auction games are not something I normally gravitate to.

I feel like I'm watching QVC. That's not a knock or a compliment, it's just how it felt. Very nice production values, but maybe at the expense of warmth.

I have the original version of this, which is fantastic. Unfortunately, they messed up on the event cards in my copy (missing a third of them while getting doubles of another third...). I was happy to see a reprint coming, but I much prefer the artwork and meeples in the original to the new design. Also, they didn't do anything to add a 2-player variant so I ended up not backing this on KS. Still, I would like to get a set of the events.

I really love the graphical style on this version, it's enough to push it into my wishlist. Also agree with what Simon said further along in the comments... I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere.

the board of day's of wonder is so much better imo. I do like a lot the Colosseum tiles on this game.
