Final score and break down of score can be found below:
They are on a 0-10 scale with 10 being the best score possible:
Story Accuracy to the Movie 5.0 out of 10
(Well it does take place in the factory, focuses around the 5 main kids with 4 of them causing trouble and has Charlie and Willy as main focal points here. As well as using the voice characters from the film besides Johnny Depp. Well that’s where the accuracy ends. As everything else is just Charlie playing the role of repair man to a falling apart factory that he has to lead Oompa Loompas around to fix. As well as rescuing the trouble making kids for some strange reason. It had some elements but really not enough to make it an accurate telling of the movie in any way.)
Music Soundtrack Accuracy to the Movie’s 3.5 out of 10
(As per usual the music is all original and done in house by the game studio. But it is actually a pretty good soundtrack that does try to emulate the feel and a lot of the sounds from the soundtrack. It has a nice dose of background vocals and moods in the music to fit the situation and is honestly a fun listen to. But it’s not really accurate at all. )
Game Difficulty 4.0 out of 10
(The game isn’t overly easy per say but its not really hard either. Its just long and boring and tedious. You will get killed a lot by annoying robots but you just respawn in the same spot anyway making the energy meter worthless. There are moments that are tricky but its mostly due to bad play control and graphical elements than the game itself. The game isn’t hard but its not really easy either. Its kinda just sorta going through the motions trying to figure things out as you do the same tasks all the way through in the hopes of doing the right thing at the right time to progress further.)
Overall Fun 1.0 out of 10
(The game is just not fun. And that is the sad part of this whole experience. Exploring the vast chocolate factory made famous in the movies and book should not be this lame an experience. After two stages of directing Oompa Loompas and fixing machines and using some power for a bit it gets old and fast! This is not fun. Finishing it becomes a chore and replayability is almost zero on this. Fans of the film will maybe get a kick out of it for a moment but that moment will end quickly as they see it doesn’t get much better after the first few stages. Just a poor effort all around as this did not at all relive the feel and moments of the movie well at all.)
Final Score: 3.50

I did find the menu music oddly pleasant though. Is it really Freddie Highmore back as Charlie?
The gamecube version is near unplayable from my experience.
