I never liked handheld consoles. It can can the perfect graphic but it is small screen… blah I would rather play Playstation one on 60 inch TV. I would not buy it even if it cost 50 USD
Ron I have to tell you I went crazy trying to get a ps5 and now that I have one I’m not impressed, if the next gen is like this one I will not be entering it. I have a huge library of games I could play including my burger time quarter arcade. Great video.
Please don't name the next Xbox something dumb and confusing.
The handheld should absolutely replace the SS
I mean an xbox handheld would be cool but then new gen 2027?
That would've been too wild because their current gen is still capable enough. It seems like xbox is going through an midlife crisis or something ever eince Phil admitted that they "lost the console war"…
I’ll be very interested to see how Xbox goes from here. I don’t see them technically trying to ever compete with Sony or Nintendo again.
That doesn’t mean they won’t do unique things. They just want people to have a box that plays GamePass. They don’t care if it’s your TV, phone, PC handheld, PC, or a box you put in front of your TV. As long as Nintendo and Sony don’t want GamePass on their devices Xbox will have a device for GamePass is my thoughts.
With the sales of Xbox consoles right now Sony absolutely does not need to hurry the PS6.
I like my Xbox, but that’s not the norm. PS5 outsold Xbox devices in Q1 2024 more than Xbox sold all year!
If xbox can do a powerful handheld with great battery life at an affordable price that can do both win and steam os and can play game pass and steam then I would buy it in a heart beat. But I doubt it.
It’s the worst thing they could have done for the future
Nintendo is the only brand with the attachment rate for exclusive games to be a selling point and honestly it was because of the form factor that the Switch took off. Nintendo games also sell well on Mobile. Nintendo sells nostalgia and those of us that grew up gaming on consoles all buy our kids a Switch. Just as much for Fortnite and Minecraft as Smash Bros. It's just how it is.
If it plays Fortnite, Minecraft, Call of Duty, Madden, College Football, NBA2K, WWE2K, Roblox, and GTA it'll sell. That's the majority of PlayStation and Xbox gamer's. This is the end of traditional generations in my mind and exclusives won't do anything more than lose money. Most are barely breaking even.
The old way was sell a console to sell the games. Now it's a Unified Hardware front to obviously unify the storefronts. If this is a PC more streamlined for a console gamer to transition seemlesly as well as help the new OEM manufacturerers by giving them the branding to actually appeal to casual gamer's in the PC market which is the fastest growing market in gaming. It effectively kills exclusives through the use of multiple storefronts which they still will collect there 70%. If the Xbox/Windows store is front and center then the bulk of 3rd party sells will happen there but even if they didn't you can sell these devices off the Game Pass Ultimate proposition alone. The more they spread their games out the more they can make casuals aware of what Game Pass Ultimate ultimately offers as game prices potentially increase.
It also actively gives them more time to continue working on the cloud streaming technology and improving it through software updates potentially instead of hardware itself. The cloud is everywhere. This technology could actually be used to help bring the experiences to their TV partners just as easily adding the UI and OS in those devices as well. Essentially changing the living room experience with gaming and your library the same way smart TV's did.
Having multiple OEM handhelds works for them as well as games are already developed with specifications and benchmarks. Yes it'll extend the current generation but ultimately it won't matter as developers can create there games with the lowest target and optimize from there accordingly without having to worry about if it would run on whatever console or not. It's a PC basically. It's flexible.
It also creates a unified experience on pc, "console", and mobile which to me sounds Alot like what the this is a Xbox campaign is all about. There's literally nothing to lose in this. Not to mention if they're allowing the new Windows Xbox UI that Aaron Greenberg referenced and Xbox branding then there being monetizing it in the background. Better believe it. Since console gaming isn't really attracting new users this could actually be the best way to actually do it going forward.
If it only supports gamepass im good no point of a handheld to only play game pass when everything can do that already.
You have no clue do you? Sarah Bond already said that their going to make another Xbox you up on this video saying if they do 😂 came on man they are
I'm honestly interested, and even more so if I'm able to play all orginal Xbox, 360, and of course Xbox games on it other than w.e new games are coming out now. I just never seem to be interested in playing on my console anymore, but am interested in a handheld if done right.
xbox is the best place to play everything
If i can log into my xbox account, have access to and play my backlog of xbox, 360 and xbox one games on it then I am all in.
PC, Switch 2, and Retro Handhelds is all I need
Not saying Microsoft is great at it, but the biggest profits are subscriptions and in-game purchases. EA’s stock went down because it couldn’t keep the money flowing at the same rate from their soccer game. Microsoft just wants cross-play across multiple platforms and make the money off the subscriptions/the cloud. I think the interesting issue: has improvements between the hardware console and PC narrowed enough? The whole premise of a console was it future-proofed the customer for 7-8 years (if you bought the console early in the cycle), while PC’s required updates or buying a new desktop PC. Earlier generations the gap was wider than today (Super NES would be on par with PC’s for like 2 years and then get surpassed by PC’s)… today a lot of gamers use laptops which has limitations on size, heat and power.
Console exclusive don’t sell console, it’s third-party, the friends you have on that console and backwards compatibility.
The OG Xbox came out with a hard drive but the PS2 didn’t. With the P2 you had to use a memory card. With the original Xbox you could play your own music in game!
They don't want to make games exclusive to a console that barely sells enough units to justify the business. It just doesn't work for them anymore in terms of making money.
Not gonna lie, I'd probably buy a handheld!
"what makes a console important, exclusives" but that's the thing people keep missing. Microsoft sales their console at a loss to get people into the echo system where they try to make their money back. Why do that when they can JUST sale games everywhere. Valve had best echo system, Sony the "best" console, Nintendo the best selling games, Microsoft is trying to be the best publisher.
I’ve been with Xbox since the Xbox 360 now I pretty much just have a one terabyte series S I’ve had the Xbox series X, but I gave it to my stepson years ago and now I pretty much just game on an Xbox series S and a pair of Rokid Max 2 AR glasses
The subscription model is destroying Hollywood. Only Netflix is making any money
I really don't care about Xbox. I play on PS5, this year we will have Death Stranding 2, GTA VI and Ghost of Yotei. And we have the switch 2 coming out with a new Mario Kart. Xbox just doesn't care about anything, so people don't care about xbox.
Lorax: let it die, let it shrivel and die. Xbox this is u.
Im hoping that its not just a streaming device like the Ps Portal. Im also hoping that Sony shifts to making a true Vita successor
I was more into handheld systems when I used to ride a bus to school back in the 90’s (I had a Game Boy and a Game Gear), but they just don’t appeal to me anymore now that I do all of my gaming at home.
If Xbox gets a handheld that I can play project Zomboid on ,I'm in.
MS should have done an Xbox handheld long ago and now that valve, asus and Lonovo are all in that handheld space and trying to compete with Nintendo, MS is in a battle royal they aren’t going to win. First of all a 3rd party Xbox branded handheld just seems absolutely ridiculous. There’s nothing about the idea that’s appealing imo. I’m going to stick with Steamdeck.
As for the question what’s Going to happen if they drop an Xbox in 2027? I don’t think Sony is going to respond and let MS sink on the hardware front and here’s why. Since MS is a 3rd party now you really think MS is not going to make their games for ps5? Of course they will and so will other 3rd party devs because none of them will be able to rely on Xbox hardware as a sole source of income. Also I seriously doubt that Xbox hardware in 2027 will be a significant jump in 2027 from series X and lastly as their hardware sales now show MS is in no position to lead the industry. 3rd party devs are going to go where they can make the most money and SELL the most software and that’s not Xbox unless they are paying devs to put their games on the service.
As a 42yr old life long gamer, I don't see myself buying anymore XBOX's and gotta be honest, same might go for PlayStation as well. This Gen…. Total Let Down. The move away from Physical Media…. Also, not for me. Between Retro, Nintendo and my Backlog, I'll probably be set for the foreseeable future
PS5 and Xbox Series: "A Generation of Nothing."
Nintendo and PC.
Hasn’t even felt like it’s been 5 years since this generation started, probably because we haven’t gotten many original new games.

The smallest MASS released catalog ever!!!
Theres maybe 30% of the releases at all even different from Xbox VS ps5… and even then…. many of those games are becoming available on PC or ported to other consoles.
The days of exclusives are dead!!!
The home console is dying, the game industry has hit the wall of both financial and graphical diminishing returns. Its turning in to a content stalemate amongs us gamers!!!
Why buy a $700 console that has maybe 10 games "I just gotta play" and the rest is live service games or ports/reissues/remakes…… When I can buy a $50 ps2 and a $200 mountain of games that will take forever to wade through or beat all of them?
Thats the quandry the industry is at with consumers…. and definitely with myself
Too late rog ally x wins 🏆 😎
