Assassin’s Creed Shadows is finally available worldwide for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC, and it’s a big hit. Which is surprising because while preliminary reports indicated it would perform well, no one expected it to reach two million players within two days of launch.

There are also reports of the open-world action RPG having the second-biggest launch in the series, handily beating Odyssey and only ranking behind Valhalla.

But what makes it so beloved? Is it the dual protagonists? The Feudal Japan setting that fans have craved for years? All the work that’s gone into the meticulously crafted and gorgeous open world?

Whatever the case, Shadows is garnering attention in all the right ways.

I think the game is good so far, but maybe it's because I went back to Valhalla from the 45 hours put into it from its release to off-and-on playing until the end of last year where I decided to focus almost solely on it to 100 percent map and story completion, and then Mirage, I've put very little story or map progress into this so far despite getting it a day after release. I have 15 hours so far, and that's been hitting every area of Izumi Settsu, but I still have yet to start "From Spark to Flame", which is pretty much the first quest. I've enjoyed what I played, but it's not grabbing me as much as other things I've been doing, like hanging out with my dogs and watching Korean and Japanese dramas, which hits the instant gratification aspect of my brain for something I arguably find more meaningful. I think I can sink into this now.

This game is AMAZING. It’s not perfect, but it’s extremely fun. Way better than Valhalla.

I have listened to and understand the criticisms and to some extent I'm sympathetic. Making one of the main characters a fuctionalized yasuke in a game set in japan was a decision based on political views. It wasn't necessary and somewhat takes away from the game's potential. Nevertheless i'm very much enjoying the game. It's beautiful. Hopefully they can correct some of their mistakes in future updates. Naoe is amazing!

I was convinced up until about 5 days ago not to buy this game and i bought it anyway....glad i did. George Floyd is barely even in it. All the memes were from console footage and or lowest gfx settings on lowest res just to look bad cause the game looks phenomenal (on pc of course) and the voice acting isnt THAT bad. its bad but its not THAT bad. ive seen worse lol. PC Also has a program called Special K that unlocks the FPS for the cut scenes! and WeMod to boost you to max level, with max mats & gold without spending a penny on Ubisofts micro-transactions.

one of likeable things about AC Shadows while playing the girl is that shes an actual assasin, actual good old assasins are back, the good old assasins when you were an actual hidden blade wielding murderer with almost inhumane climbing skills, like frye twins, altair, kenway or ezio. one of my biggest gripes with more modern AC games is thatt they didn't feel like AC games but something completly different, valhalla felt like vikings tv show made into game, greece and egypt ones just felt like every other toe to toe and RPG focused games rather than classic AC, AC simply lost its identity for a time and thats also what it feels playing the guy in shadows too but majority of game is the girl and shes the main character and is an actul hooded secret-blade wielding assasin that can jump almost anywhere and its so satisfying to play actual assasin again.

This game is good!
Nevertheless I hope Ubisoft would stop trying to add meaningless content just to sum up additional hours! This game is already long as it is!
It runs well despite some bugs, the combat is slick and gruesome and playing with either Yasuke or Naoe is great, although I would have preferred sticking to one character at a time. The world is great, and there are just so many targets out there!
This is better than Tenchu! This is different than Ghost of Tsushima and it is great!
Some people just want to hate the game, but this game is actually something! It is amazing representation of feudal japan! Another entry of this fantastic country rich in history!

I was very very sceptical. I hated this game. I only tried it via Ubisoft plus and I am glad I did.

It is an amazing adventure and Yasukes story actually works put really well.

Because there's a lot of YouTubers that have built their channels off of trashing everything that comes out. They have learned that videos where they crap on games tend to get more views. So they crap on everything. I used to actually pay attention to some of these channels till I realized that they dunked on everything

I think this is just another case of a few bitter people making a lot of noise.
The “controversies” surrounding the game have been yelled back and forth between YouTube and Twitter but have never been a thing in real life amongst normal people.

It’s a great game with a great story. To be honest if it wasn’t for the world of racism this game would’ve probably not been on my radar. I haven’t really cared for an Assassin’s Creed game in a while. Yet I heard and read all the hate surrounding this one and I kept up with it until release. I love it. I thought I wouldn’t like fighting using the R1 and L1 but man it actually feels really natural. I believe the WOKE movement kinda backfired though…it gave the racists a new word to use for anything that isn’t centered around a white male.

I was skeptical at first, then decided to buy it. I am enjoying it, it is a beautiful game. I am playing it on base PS5 and it's excellent. For anyone starting the game I recommend you to do the following to enhance your experience: play the game on expert, play the game in immersive mode (I.e. Japanese VA), and try to minimalize as much as possible the HUD (even if you set it to OFF would be better) for full cinematic immersive experience ( you'll enjoy exploring the world more, the fighting more, and the stealth sections more). Trust me 😊

It's a good ninja game with the ability to hide in shadows and foliage. The reminds me of how I felt playing Tenchu (though in Tenchu the stealth was limited to hiding around corners, rooftop and at a distance).

I'm trying so hard to love the game, but as much as people are saying, it is not fun at all. So, 4.5/10. I don't know if I will ever have the will the finish it. I just wanted to know about Loki and what happens in the modern world, and now, as far as I know, there is no mention of Loki and the modern world.

It’s a good game. I put in 70 hours and I’m still in act 2 and have more than dozens of targets to go after. Not to mention the maps not fully explored, it’s more like 35-40% explored

Is the game decent? Yes. It has good performance. Is the VA work good? Everything except EN. Is the game fun? It has to be on max settings to be actually challenging. But overall it's a okay-ish game. Which is a very sad reality of AAA gaming.

Thanks to Ubisoft, Tencent has an even bigger monopoly on the gaming industry with 20% shares and rights to Assassin's Creed, Far Cry. So much for saving Western gaming.

people enjoy it, from a graphical standpoint... because most of the positive reviews are in regards to how the game looks, visually... lol people constantly glazing over how vast and beautiful the world is.
and sure while i do tend to agree... it's not the end all be all!

like just because it looks nice, isn't going to change my overall opinion on it. lol

like let's just say this game had rise of the ronin Graphics lol i bet there's alot of those same supporters would be strumming a different tune...

but because it's on par with Valhalla, and then you add the improvements, to parkour, the Stealth system.. combat etc,,
well now it's this groundbreaking masterpiece of Fine Art.. and the greatest thing in gaming history.
