In this first steps tutorial, we take a look at included Godot game examples: truck town, platformer 3d and platformer 2d. We modify existing Godot Script source code, use the game editor to move 3d objects, navigate in the inspector to modify world environment parameters and change lighting of the levels. We implement additional controls and modify existing ones by replacing variable definitions and functions.

Forget Unity Engine, RPG Maker, GameMaker and Unreal Engine even though James Portnow and Daniel Floyd are telling you to go with industry software. They are a demotivating waste of proprietary download space and time for a beginner like you!

Thanks for the tutorial, I have one question please: How have you managed to open all project windows maximized/centered in your screen? In my Godot 2.1.4 installation, project windows start smaller than the desktop and at the top left of the screen. This may be corrected with code, but I wonder about what you did.

What the world doesn't need is your face. Why is it taking up such a huge part of the video? I get that the youtube tuts all say that you should get your face in there, but this is a little much. No one needs that. Maybe if you were hot then go ahead, but... Just do the tuts and get your mug off-screen.

great tutorial thanks. Sometimes when I move around the viewport by clicking the middle mouse button the camera gets stuck and I cannot get it to move. I tried closing the .scn file and reopening it, but the camera stays stuck. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm on ubuntu 16.10. To solve the problem i have to restart the editor. Is there a command to reset the camera to the starting position?
