The only two giants standing today are pc and nintendo. Basicly all or if not all playstation and xbox games can be played on pc. Nintendo has exclusive games and their own style. When we can play nintendo games on pc then it will be truly over.

Was it a war though? PS2 beat Xbox by a HUGE margin. PS4 beat Xbox One by a huge margin. PS5 beat Xbox Series X by a huge margin. It's only the 360 that ever stood a chance and even then it still got beat by PS3 lol

XBOX had a little more Gigaflops. But still the PS5 managed to get more performance out of less with a better OS.

Console as a whole is just not it for me

I love big AAA games and i prefer laptop gaming. I dont like mobile games, but my brother did.

Neither of us needs console.

I mean, Sony has 70% console share today and Microsoft 30%. Sony won strongly again. Like all generations. And the only generation where Sony won by a smaller margin was with PS3. All other ones were with complete domination. 70%+ is yet again a domination in development.
I still play games that only Sony makes. I literally cant be bothered by the many many more random less refined AA or A games that literally are fun for a moment, but cant give me the experience I get from all the single player games from Sony. And I play Hell divers for hundreds of hours. Dont get me wrong. I dont play single player games only and also its not like I dont play many other games. But Sony games or games I play on Sony consoles are just special. It has always been. When you have Messi, Christiano Ronaldo, Koby Bryant, Michael Jordan, Verstappen, Djokovic all in your team, its just magical team that will always draw the crowds because of sheer quality

To call it a war is giving Microsoft credit it doesn't deserve PlayStation sold more in every console generation. I admit Xbox had some good games but that doesn't make a console

The real reason xbox fell behind is lack of good exclusives , what theyre doing isnt gonna help if they arent putting out good exclusive games and especially now theyre on about giving some to ps5
Also, one of their bigfest fumbles, for the past 10+ years, is fhe handling of halo
When the first trilogy was out, halo was the biggest reason to get an xbox, a huge chunk of xbox box sales were becuase people wanted to play halo, because it was so good, but since 343 took over and it was missmanaged and badly directed, it nose dived and now people dont really care, if it was still as good on release as the og 3 games they would have sold far more consoles

I remember now why i unsubbed fo ign lol. I have a ps5 series x and pc. Pc is always gonna run better its a bigger machine. Series x ix superior to ps5 in every way. Mobile lmao. According to ign everyones gonna throw away consoles and pcs one day to keep gambling money on candy crush 😂 unsubbed

The truth is that this "console war" will never be over. They will always be an introduction to a new console that will be superior to the PS5 or the XBOX Series X, and then another console will be introduced as well and so forth. Greed has always played a part in the gaming industry and that's the reason why there is a downfall.
