The rumors were true! EA re-released the first two Sims games for Windows PCs to mark the 25th birthday of the series. And they even fixed them to work on modern PCs! Kinda. Sorta. Ehh, an attempt was made. Still, I’m happy to see these exist on Steam and whatnot, so let’s dive in and take a closer look at The Sims Legacy Collections from 2025!

Update: After the latest patches I am no longer having those crashes! The Sims 2 now lets me create new sims and load homes in different worlds without crashing, and The Sims 1 no longer crashes for me when traveling from world to world or to different lots in towns.
So as of now, for me these are solid, stable releases. If you’re good with the price, I’d recommend them! With some caution. There are still lots of players reporting issues. But at least they're currently committed to patching the games, and that's honestly more than I can say I expected from EA.
Oooooh, how I used to LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE those!! My goodness!! Many great memories ❤
At this point they trying anything to still be relevant but everybody including me will be heading over to Inzoi 😅
I've put 52 hours into Sims 2 Legacy since it came out, it's my first time ever playing it although I've spent countless hours on the other 3, and I think it has become my favourite Sims game. Luckily I haven't experienced a single crash yet so that's a good bonus. EA did a great job with this release in my opinion.
[upbeat Windows 11-compatible music]
[computer buzzes, beeps]
its awsome they did this, but I would have been throwing my money at the screen if they did a re-release, HD port, remaster, whatever of the Console version of Sims one, playing that on PS2 brought me years of joy that id love to revisit it, even if its very limited compared to later entries
Everytime you play the sims on the steam deck you break my south american heart… that thing is so expensive haha but i really want one xD huge fan of the sims. The sims 1 for nostalgia. The Sims 2 for the huge amount of random event and stories. Im playing both 1 and 2 and never experienced a single crash. I played under XP and Windows 10 without a problem.
LGR, you are the only trustworthy source for the sims 4. Really you are the only from line against all the idiots and sellouts on youtube. I want to get the newest expansion like the degenerate I am, but I need your review to do so while breathing easy. Pls Obi-wan we need you.
Will you play Inzoi? And do a review?
I’ve literally waited one month and two weeks for EA to fix at least not all but some of the bugs in Sims 2 before I pay for it, after watching this video and hearing you say you didn’t run into a lot of bugs I’m buying it hopefully it’s worth my money and I don’t run into any bugs or even if I do maybe just a little bit and my game will still be playable I hope my computer doesn’t crash from this😭
Notably, though according to recent patch notes they added it back, on release it was missing the song Suffer Well by Depeche Mode which was used as marketing for the Open for Business expansion pack.
I own ultimate collection and I don't think it's fair that I have to pay 20 bucks to play a game I ALREADY own since over 10 years just because EA decided to re-relase it for newer operating systems. If anything, they should either convert the ultimate collection to "legacy collection" or hand out free keys to people who already owned it before.

Have you ever thought about doing a video about the Sims 1 Steering Committee prototype? I just saw footage of it from the files that leaked online and it’s really interesting, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it
America online Mac v 2.7
Should check out Sims 2 on the GBA. I’ve the Sims 2 Pets for that. It’s pretty crazy it works as well as it does on a 16.8 MHz handheld with <400K RAM total.
IM GETTING IT NEXT MONTH AND IM VERY GLAD TO HEAR THAT ALL IS WELL SINCE THE PATCHES!!! IM SO EXCITED TO RELIVE MY CHILDHOOD DAYS IN THE SIMS 2
It’s wild, TS2 never crashed on my old Gateway laptop, and I used to play for hours and hours 🤷🏻♀️😅
30$ 40$ 120$ its an EA game. It simply does not matter. Pirate the fuck out of these goblins
I intentionally held off for about a month on diving into this. Even though I’ve been clamoring for this exact product from EA for the better part of 15 years now, I didn’t wanna get my hopes up. Especially after all of the early days reports or bugs and issues.
Well, I finally caved yesterday. After wrestling with my laptop and EA to get all the necessary updates to even be able to download this game, I’m pleasantly surprised by how well this runs. So far I’ve only done the Sims 2, I spent about four hours messing around in Pleasantview. I can’t believe it’s finally happening. I’m able to play a game. I’ve loved my entire life seamlessly. The gangs all here and I feel like a child. I could cry.
Man, I think I haven't played The Sims 1 in 20 years. Might have to pick these up for old times' sake.
I have wanted the sims 1 and the sims 2 on Steam but It’s a train-wreck of problems. That I think the sims fans have already solved. Now EA needs to now solve the problem. Release so many patches for both games.
Why am I not surprised EA broke this rerelease in weird ways.
They're charging you 30 dollars for a game that:
– Came out in 2004
– Was given completely for free a bit over 5 years go, with all the expansions
– The re-relase works worse than this free version that was given in Origin years ago
And people are buying it. It's amazing, gotta give it to EA, their fanbase is absolutely stupid and will pay for anything, no matter the price or in what state they release it.
I wish they would’ve re released the console versions. Those are better imo
God, I hope this means we're getting an updated Sims 3 release that doesn't buckle under its own weight.
to those who bought the game this March, do the bugs still exist or are they more playable compared from the release date?
I would love it if they remaster or preferbly remake the sims 3
Sims 3 is my fav but I still love 1 and 2 also. 4 is garbage imho.
I want the sims 3 legacy collection.
The sims 1 did not start up. I had to jump a few hoops. Well worth the bundle. I put 40 hours into some 2 do fast lol
I wonder if they'll re-release Sims 3 in 2029? Maybe then it'll be optimized to some degree
Does the sims 2 have a play through story mode like it did on the PS2??
Is there a way to add TS1 music to TS4?
moooom! clint said a bad word!
I need sims 3 to be re release with optimization for modern hardware and bug fixes 😅
has it got btter ? 3 weeks later ? or is it still crashinf ??? i really wanted to get sims 1

I really want a Sims 3 re-release.
hello everyone ^^ i just have a question, what is the legacy collection, please? i really want to purchase the sims 2, at least the base game, because i’ve never played it but i prefer the sims 3 over the sims 4, so i think i’d really enjoy playing the sims 2, and my spring break is starting soon, so i’d like to sneak in some times where i’m able to play this game. i searched it on the official EA website, and it said “the sims 2 legacy collection 29.99 dollars”. since english isn’t even my first language and i don’t quite get the words “legacy collection”, could anyone, please, explain it to me? thank you in advance! <3
If nothing else, this video has reminded me of some good memories…and that I need to buy a steamdeck.
It's interesting cuz there's a script that would set it all up for you and fix everything. It was certainly piracy though. But, at the time the Sims 2 was abandonedware and getting discs at reasonable prices was impossible.
Probably still works better than official.
I own the legacy version when they gave it away on origin, and it wouldnt work at all without a bunch of mods.
The steam release is definitely an improvement on the origin version though.
The most exciting thing about this news and release for me was hoping to see LGR do a video on it. And you did. And that makes me very happy, so I just wanted to say thank you, and I really enjoyed watching this.
Patience… if nothing else, there'll be a sale for these.
yesss man! I can't believe im only just seeing this video. PS. EA is gross for reselling games that are available and working for free
On behalf of your foreign audience: Please allow automatic translation in your videos 😢
I'm honestly not gonna buy these, even if they wouöd be perfect… got 1 qnd 2 set up with the community based fixes etc (sims2 starter pack) so i can play them rather nicely already…
Nice that they are available again, but EA cab go f off for all I care.
I haven't had any crashes on Sims 2, but I did have it glitch on me and not let me fill in a hole with a burst pipe.
Cheat Codes still work great, though, and trusty "moveobject on" got rid of the hole, and somehow fixed the glitch so it no longer happens????

The sims 1 (all expansions) is everything to me 🩵 lmfaooo
