Though some are bemoaning the end of the console war now that first-party Microsoft titles appear on other platforms, that doesn’t necessarily mean the end of their hardware ambitions. There’s always been the assurance that new Xbox consoles are coming in the future, and according to rumors, it could pursue a multifaceted approach.
Reports indicate that a portable gaming PC with Xbox “design sensibilities” is in the works for launch later this year. While the company throws its hat into the handheld PC gaming space with a distinct advantage, it’s allegedly working on the successor to the Xbox Series X/S. Nothing is known about the console, save for it also having a handheld and different controller types (though it’s out in 2027).
While pursuing console hardware may seem questionable given Xbox’s declining hardware sales, it could be part of Microsoft’s effort to ensure multiple platforms and capture the widest possible audience.

You’re confusing two different things. Xbox is leading the gaming industry on most fronts. They have all the innovations, they have the best ecosystem, the best cloud and the best hardware as well as all the games along with gamepass
$ony has console sales, but popularity doesn’t equate to best. I don’t recall the last time I powered up my PayStation, I have no reason to, I’m done with remasters!
Idc what anyone says, I love my SX. I’m on board with the multi plat strategy. I’ll be there day 1 for XBOX Next.
Cope
Secret plan? Game changer? What year is this? 2013? With Xbox now having to foot the bill for game development, is there still anyone who thinks they really want to sell more consoles and Game pass subscriptions?
Im def interested in the new handheld cnosle theyre making. Look forward to it.
I’ll buy the next gen Xbox and a PS6 so who gives af
Microsoft is making a mistake porting their games to other consoles. They're giving gamers less reason to buy their console. I truly believe that Microsoft can pick themselves back up from the ground, like Sony did with the PS4, if they learn from their mistakes
Here comes Xbox, shaking things up again!
I lost faith in Xbox so I'll believe it when I see it
I want xbox to continue cause I love their gamepad. I don't even own their console but their first and third parties gamepad is just so good on the pc
If there are no exclusives what’s the point of buying a Xbox? I don’t want or care about gamepass
NO GYRO, NO VR, NO ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS, NOT EVEN HAPTICS = DEADBOX.
Nerds crack me up. "It's not over yet" for Xbox? Microsoft's game's division made over 6 and a half BILLION dollars last year. I'm sure they're relieved to hear it isn't over yet. The internet sadly lets so many stupid people with stupid opinions express them.
Fable, Fable and Fable! This is the game that xbox needs if microsoft wants to sell consoles.
xbox lost the console war, no matter what they do, they can't complete with playstation
For the controller and controller alone, my overall experience has been better on Xbox. Dual sense is the good feature flex but I am afraid to say it didn't made my gaming experience enjoyable. For me personally, Xbox controller is the ergonomics king. Smaller size, concave offset sticks and clicky tactile buttons, it gets the basics right and fits in your hands like an old pair of gloves. It takes some long gaming sessions to truly appreciate it. I still regret selling my Series S for this exact reason.
I think it's a good fkin move I don't know how strong it is but it's definitely a strong move
When U consider the games that go to steam from ps5
The fact U actually play ps5 games on the go without having a ps5
I think it could smash the portable market
I'll definitely buy 1
Controlling all 3 on the go at Ur finger tips very powerful play made by Microsoft
But how will Sony respond and will they continue to pump games to steam knowing it's increasing their rivals console value
In theory Microsoft never have to make a AAA again.. well just release it on game pass and then being able to tap into steam as well
And how will it compete with steam deck I wander
It will surely have to be either cheaper
Or the spec needs to blow the steam deck out the water
But doing that could hurt this relationship with steam
Such an interesting bald move
Another clickbait video from gamingbolt since most of the information in this video has been making the rounds most of 2024, and they didn’t add anything new to this whole thing.
MS is simply making a Windows OS Gaming Edition and utilizing the Xbox branding. So Lenovo and ROG don't have to shoehorn Windows 11 into a gaming device. Xbox already runs a version of Windows designed for gaming. So why wouldn't Xbox continue to make hardware? It's just a PC running a Windows Gaming OS. Now they'll just open up more desktop features for the console users.
“I put the screw in the tuna!”
So there's no point in purchasing anymore xbox consoles. Got it.
Scared with Sony actually wearing the crown even though they might have had it in anyway in the previous decades. Their account security is trash and I lost access to my PSN account with all of my digital purchases due to all of the security leaks even with all security measures enabled. Even with the better business bureau involved Sony did practically nothing to help. Competition is good for us, so if Xbox isn't there just as even a minor annoyance to Sony, I am scared to see what next anti consumer move they make next.
We already have that, with a PC and the Xbox app.
PS5 has shipped 75M units, but major exclusives like Astrobot & Stellar Blade sell a little over 1M copies.
That’s terrible. The only point of selling consoles is to bring in revenue from software and services.
Meanwhile, in reality, Xbox brings in $450M ish a month from GamePass revenue.
We already pre-emptively trying to apply the “Xbox Tax” to their next move?
as long as Microsoft doesnt care and lets sony sell there games .. ill just stay with sony and use the steam deck to get access to steam..
i bet the new xbox handheld will be like a cloud gaming machine where you need internet and a strong internet to really use it
What was the point of inserting a long clip of hi-fi rush for?
You can literally keep narrating while that same gameplay just plays on the background without that long pause
