I have watched many in this series but this is THE most fascinating to me. I work with deaf people so sound is something I am highly attuned to, and the acoustics of this job are amazing!!! Great job, Mr. Jones!!!

@wtfpercussion March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

One of the videos that got me hooked on acoustic sound design when it first came out!

@courteneydaniels March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

So cool!

@onceuponamax3619 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

Who else can hear what song is playing in the background??

@vladtepes97 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

don't pick a fight with a percussionist. we hit things for fun,

@kellyjene77 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

This is amazing. You don't think about this when you watch, but learning how it is used, really makes you appreciate every little sound.

@coolcupcake145 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

My School's Marching Band performed "No one mourns the wicked" last year. And I played in the purcussion section.

@praestant8 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

Bill Brohn, how you will be missed!

@staggmovie March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

Does anybody know if he still with the show, and if not when did he leave?

@Scandisk10 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

So, how are some of these elements applied on tour and in the U.K productions? I never paid super close attention, but are a lot of these orchestrations non existent in prouductions outside of broadway?

@maddieg0280 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

I want someone to watch this who thinks percussion is easy

@wicked_musical March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

Every part of WICKED tells a story. Watch how the percussionist uses 59 instruments to bring the drama alive on stage http://bit.ly/1HtmPRC

@whosfelicia5328 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

That is incredible, only one person for all those instruments so impressive

@lolnah8856 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

Pretty high pressure job.

@ryanburke4633 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

@finnishguy845 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

That must be heaven for musicians with stage fright  😀

@ryanburke4633 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

@vxla March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

there are very talented musicians all over the world.

@TheEvilViolin March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

Our school concert band was looking for a percussion player. This video made me join and I've found real enjoyment in it and my want to learn made me fool the band leader into thinking I has percussion experience before. Best decision ever!

@Nasha0909 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

Waterphone, if I remember correctly

@htdart March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

This is great. Now, I was left wondering how this kind of individual skill can be transported to the other ongoing Wicked productions.

@gomezaddams42 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

Omg. This is the most amazing show I've ever seen, and I've seen quite a few. I would LOVE to play Fiyero one day. It would be great to be involved in any way, but playing FIyero would be great.

@151Doggies March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

It's really cool to see the percussion by itself, so when you listen to the whole song you can listen for it

@Manomusicgeek March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

Wicked is my favorite musical, and as a percussionist, my dream is to perform in Wicked 🙂 I just wanted to thank you for highlighting one of the things that made me love it :3

@MaryJoeCCS March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

This is so amazing! As an actress and broadway aficionado, I love to learn everything that goes backstage. Love this videos, thank you for sharing with us!!!!

@jeanetteisrandom March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

What was the instrument that looked like a triangular spiral that hung from the ceiling? When he played it, there was a voice over..

@tjdrummer13 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

Ever since I saw it when I visited London, as a drummer I've wanted to do nothing else but drum in it, I've learnt the score, and spend by past time drumming for amateur (but awesome) productions in my last year of high school, i'll see you in the pit one day…

@disneydanny2 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

nope it's prohibited (there's an announcement at the beginnining of the show that says so)

@disneydanny2 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

i'm seeing the show for the 6th time on Father's day in San Francisco which will mark 2 1sts foor me (1st time seeing it on Tour as well as the 1st time since San Francisco's closing night in 2010 that i've seen the show it will be interesting seeing the staging from the touring peerspective as I'm guessing with the exception of "Defying Gravity" the way it's staged on tour is what "Plan B" is when the floor hydraulics don't work .

@theactingtechguy March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

can we take pictures During the show?

@jamiekennywicked09 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

Can you do a video with the stage manager?

@bornnforthis March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

I'm fascinated. This is one of the best musicals in the history.

@broadwaymike92 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

If you look around 1:49 to 1:54 there is a picture of Idina Menzel on the the wall

@wicked_musical March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

@30SecondAwesome We are rejoicifying to hear that you enjoyed the show!

@30SecondAwesome March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

I saw wicked for the first time this summer and it was honestly the mos amazing thing I'd ever seen in my entire life. I'd been avoiding spoilers and information about the show for YEARS, not knowing if I'd ever get a chance to see it and just praying that someday I would, and I loved every single second of it!

@wicked_musical March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

@filmscoreman12 We are so glad you enjoyed the video. Who knows, perhaps you will play in WICKED someday. Remember, everyone deserves the chance to fly!

@MatthewCroftMusic March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

As a Music Director & Keyboardist, it's my dream to play this show – this video & the conductor video are the most fascinating things I've seen.

@wicked_musical March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

@seregon07 We are glad you enjoyed it!

@CandyReviewer4427 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

@joshuaTM0 they have one! its actually called Behind the Emerald Curtain lol You can buy tickets at the theatre or ticket master

@kjazz828 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

definitely do one on the keyboards! kurtzweil 2600s sound fantastic!

@disneydanny2 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

@musicmanaj92 that would be really fun to conduct that show. if i'm not mistaken the waty that position works is you'd learn all the Keyboard parts then once you become Principle on Keyboard 1 you'd have double duty as Keyboard 1/Asst. M.D. then move up to the main M.D. when the main one leaves.

@TheEpona92 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

2:45 i always wondered how they made that noise!

@dudeporky March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

@MrArtiny I think it may be a 'Waterphone'

@musicmanaj92 March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

I WANT TO CONDUCT THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!

@wickedphant0m March 11, 2025 - 7:00 am

I love how they talk about all these fancy, unique instruments and then what they actually show at the end is cymbals, tubular bells, and a timpani.
