The NEC PC-Engine was an absolutely amazing 2D powerhouse video game system with a ton of great games, but when it was brought to the US as the TurboGrafx-16 it was a commercial failure but quickly became a cult hit with passionate and vocal fans. NEC of America did a very poor job choosing which games to bring to the US market and there are a ton of amazing games for the platform that were left in Japan.
The PC-Engine and TurboGrafx-16 had an amazing library of shooting games and they tend to get all the attention. In this video, I’m going to go over 10 awesome PC-Engine games on HuCard that are not SHMUP shooters and are absolutely worth playing!

And don't forget a copy of Blodia. This game usually does like 10 bucks. It is stressful, and has a single OST soundtrack, but hey, it is from the legendary composer Masakatsu Maekawa, and thus a masterpiece earworm. Now we are at Masakatsu Maekawa, you certainly forgot Jackie Chan Action Kung Fu! Which also makes me want to bring a schmup to your attention: forget Blazing Lazers and Soldier Blade, both are only nice on stage 1 and 2, the stages where the average youtube reviewer dies. Final Soldier, again a Masakatsu Maekawa masterpiece, is one of the 3 best shmups on the PC Engine, the other 2 being Kyukyoku Tiger and Galaga 88, all three pretty affordable compared to most others.
I've just bought the Avenue 3, for the option to use the RUN/SELECT as a button, I already have the 6 button pad/s, I bought the 3 for Barunba and Human Soccer initially, are there any other obvious games that make good use of it? I'll be giving it a test tomorrow, I am sure there'll be a bunch of titles I am not even thinking of that it's mega useful to use with, I heard Forgotten Worlds plays much nicer, but I don't own that as yet.
Son Son 2 is a great game! Highly recommend.
I would say the 6-button pad that was included with the Duo-R is the best for playing SF2CE
While they can be a little pricey I would recommend the two Alice In Wonderland games on PC Engine: Marchen Maze and Fushigi no Yume no Alice. One plays like a vertical shooter the other a traditional platformer. Both very colorful, quite unique, and harder than their cute appearance would make you think.
There's also the Hori Fighting Commander PC; it's like an SNES controller with the layout of the Avenue Pad 6. Really solid stuff. Great video!
Who cares about Street Fighter II. Real men play Keith Courage and like it
