To the publisher it is considered a “first party” game. Same with SIE and Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, DS2 etc. But to the wider industry I would say they are “second party” games as they are developed by third party studios and are not first party IP. Video game definitions are not straight forward lol. Yes it is a first party XGS published title for us and we have loved working with those teams on this game/announce. The Xbox Wire piece speaks to the history of the project which started with Phil Spencer’s visits with those teams in Japan many years ago.

None of it matters. Because all the Xbox games are coming to PS5 and Sony will continue to fund 2nd and 3rd party games and pay for exclusivity

Still at it with the Xbox hateraid. Microsoft is right to put the games on any platform with a screen. More gamers having more access to your games is good. Some people seem to think Microsoft works for Xbox when it's the other way around. They can categorize the games they see fit. At least many of us just enjoy the games on whatever platform instead of this toxic VS mentality. I don't care if the games are 1st 2nd 3rd. If they are good it is what I play.

Sony didn’t own Koe Tecmo either but Rise of the Ronin was a first party game. FromSoft isn’t owned by Sony but Bloodborne was a first party game. If you wanna be picky you could say Spider-Man isn’t first party because of Sony not owning the character. This is such a dumb argument and I can’t see why anyone except raging fanboys would care

Honestly im starting to regret buying my PS5. Not just because of the games, lack of multiplayer games meaning paying for PS plus is a waste of money. Worst of all its the community, they dont like playing games together, they dont even talk, i can't think of a single time i had fun with other players on my Ps5. SONY aremt even offering me a roadmap of first party games and xbox is pumping out so many games this yearits insane.

Xbox published NG4, they don’t have to own the IP to money hat a game. Sony has done it for years with FF, Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider etc. it’s really not a hard concept. It’s an Xbox game, not an “exclusive” Xbox game, but it is presented to us, by Xbox. Ninja Gaiden isn’t Xbox, but “NG4” will ALWAYS be Xbox wherever you play it., because they published it. What’s weird about the concept?
