Brazil...such an awesome and frightening movie...all the more frightening today ! That film has it all, greatness, melancholy, adventures, incredible hopes and despair. Really close to my favorite Gilliam movie - Twelve monkeys. Beautiful interview, especially when we know that De Niro is "not a big fan" of them.

I loved the movie Brazil. What a crazy movie. Just amazing. The plastic surgery scenes precede the cult of cutup nowadays. And I adore De Niro. A legend, an icon, a dad...a mensch!

I heard that De Niro was a big fan of the British rock group Queen, and flew to the UK to meet the surviving members of the band, and even invest in some project they were doing. I don't know if it's true

Aww...I have to tell my Robert DeNiro story! I was stationed in the Navy in 1987-1988, at the Navy Motion Picture Service in Brooklyn, NY. Our buildings were right next to the FDR Parkway and one day, one of our coworkers came in saying Robert DeNiro was outside! Apparently they were filming the movie Midnight Run, and when we went outside to see him, there was a tow truck hooked up to a vehicle he was sitting in, in the driver's seat, waiting for the crew to prepare what they needed to start filming the scene. There were some policemen outside on the sidewalk where the car was parked and we had a tall chain link fence between us. One of the cops was talking to us and asked us if we were prisoners! Lol! I guess not such a strange question, considering we WERE wearing blue chambray shirts with our last names stenciled on them, bell bottom blue jeans, and steel toed boots! We told him "No! We're in the Navy!" He laughed and asked us questions. One of the girls noticed Mr DeNiro sort of looking bored and asked what was wrong with him! So the cop stepped over to the car, stuck his head inside the passenger door window, and spoke to him! Suddenly, DeNiro leans forward, smiles really big, and waves at all of us! Oh My! We just giggled and beamed with smiles just like groupies! 😅 I will never forget it! And he will never know what a moment and memory he made for all of us! We went back inside and the film crew got finished. Saw the movie when it came out and loved it! Thank you, Mr DeNiro!
