Singer Shreya Ghoshal interview on music trends | Ilaiyaraaja | AR Rahman

Singer Shreya Ghoshal, five-time National Award-winning singer, is set to perform in Chennai on March 1 as part of her ‘All Hearts Tour’ live concert.

In an interview to ‘The Hindu’, she speaks about her fascination for the Tamil language, working with Ilaiyaraaja and AR Rahman and about the changing musical landscape. She also talks about her memorable first film recording and why she puts in a lot of effort to understand the situation of the characters she sings for.

She also comments on the modern generation of music listeners and what they seek from their music idols.

KS Chitraji and Shreyaji are my most favourite singers. They are from different generations and absolutely admire each other. Their duet song, Ramayanamu, in Illyaraja music is just heavenly. They did a live duet of the Lataji song, "Ishwar Sathya Hai"

It would be hard to know if any song rendered by SG can be bettered by another singer coz no has sounded better singing her songs. So if she is not perfect hen she much be very close.

This is such a nice interview. The interviewer has actually studied Music and Shreya and come up with nice questions that aren't too generic but also that leave enough space for Shreya to express what she wants to. Shreya has also taken the opportunity well and so thoughtfully shared her interpretations with us!
