We were totally spoiled for choice in 2010 when this came out which is why it got quite a bit negative feedback but when you play it today and compare it to shite they shovel at us for £50+ it's just way better. Just listen to what games released in 2010 compared to 2024, we got RDR, Starcraft II, Mass Effect 2, God of War III, Halo Reach, AC, Civ V to name but a few.

Not sure I'd call this one great. Played through the Marine campaign last year on hardest difficulty and thought it was crap. Played it back in 2010 too and thought it wasn't great. The older ones are far better.

It doesnt run well on PC anymore sadly. Woukdnt launch. Setting compatibility to Win7 made it launch. But now it crashes on first cutscene once you get into gameplay. Sucks. Might buy in 360 and play there

The multiplayer is very much still active.. every now and then i search the dedicated internet lobbies for players and sometimes i get in matches :]

Just going to buy it on Steam for a whopping £2.49, what a bargain. Mack can we have more retro reviews, I've long given up on most modern day AAA games. They're mostly piles of shite! A lot of these old games can be modded to play in VR which breathes new life into them. Doom 3 is apparently amazing in VR and plays as if it were made originally in VR.

the marine campagne one was pure horror :D
the alien more stealth and the pred was a mix of stealth and action.

I have been playing a lot of older games lately, some of them hold up really well. Played through Vampire masquerade: bloodlines and the stalker franchise. Max Payne, FEAR, and Bioshock are also always great to revisit.
It's honestly so refreshing going back and playing old games you have beaten or just playing for the first time, you truly do notice when games were made with passion and no other motive then just giving the player a good experience. Thankfully the indie devs these days are really where this mentality is present.

The 1999 Aliens vs Predator, is one of my favorite games ever. The atmosphere, the gameplay switching between Marine, Alien and Predator, the awesome gunplay. The only game i used to get leg cramps playing, with how tense I was, and how many jump scares it had. Nothing like the feeling of that beeping sound of the alien detector in near darkness! Never played this 2010 game.

AvP 1999 as the Marine was one of the scariest games I've ever played. Pure terror. I remember not being so impressed by this sequel.

There are ways to play AVP2 on a modern PC. There are fan patches and mods you can set up easily as well. Google AVP2 all in one and KingKenny's AVP2 setup guide
