Arne Slot admits emotions got the better of him in Merseyside derby

Liverpool boss Arne Slot admitted “emotions got the better of me” after his red card at the end of a dramatic final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.

Slot was sent off by referee Michael Oliver after the full-time whistle having seen Everton defender James Tarkowski score in the eighth minute of time added on to earn a 2-2 draw on a historic night.

The Dutchman is now waiting for the FA to review Oliver’s match report before he finds out what – if any – sanction he will face.

Depending on the contents of that report, Slot could face no further action, be reminded of his responsibilities, or be charged, which would likely result in a touchline ban.

Due to the ongoing process, he did not speak about details, but admitted he “made the wrong decision”.

Listen, all you fools who call yourself football fans, the almighty Professional Game Manipulating Officials Limited has ABSOLUTE POWER over clubs and fans, and with those whistles, cards and flags, they can decide the outcome of every match every season however pleases them, ok? i see my fellow liverpool fans still cant accept that we threw away the 2 pts and it wasnt michael olivers fault. we literally had the ball with 1 minute left and a 2-1 lead. there's no excuse for not seeing it out.

He essentially got punished for not respecting someone who neither respects the team he supports, nor the game that was being played. Why do the managers have to apologise and admit wrongdoing if the referees can't take accountability for theirs?
If you shown the level of incompetence shown by referees in any other job, you would be sacked on the spot.
My love of football is really dying, I'll always love Liverpool, but I'm sick of the nonsense by the people in charge.
Add in the fact that no one in the game is even allowed to call it out, managers, players, pundits...it's ridiculous.
I used to defend the Premier League as being the pinnacle of football, but I can't do it any more, it's awful now, and it's heartbreaking

The truth is had we played our first 11 at Plymouth and won 7 nil then Everton would have been shaking in their boots. The crowd would have been shut up after we had scored a few goals. We played like we hadn’t played together before or ring rusty at best

Another thing what puzzles me is how come he played a strong side against Accrington Stanley a team who are a pub side and we were at anfield too !! It makes no sense to play a strong side at home against a far weaker side than Plymouth away

I am convinced that Jurgen left Liverpool last year because of the corrupt refereeing and bad decisions on VAR and now Arne is having to deal with the same situation
