That's unfortunate how some teams handle the arb hearings. I still don't see StL trading Donovan. Playing defacto GM, I'd accept just about any combo without JD in it. This guy is the number one target among the Yankee Universe, but I don't see special. I see very good. Maybe that's just me but I also give him props for playing that many positions above avg. Appreciate the news as usual Sir Jason.

I have liked Donovan to solve the Yanks problem for a while to. He checks ALL the boxes for them. Now, while I may not want to trade Schmidt or SJones, I would. The Yankees have got to make their best effort to win the WS in the next 2 seasons before Judge, Cole and Stanton begin to tail off, and cant waste the Fried signing or the trade for DWill... Imagine the lineup -
BD/2B or 3B
Judge/ RF
Belly/CF
Stanton (when healthy)
Wells/C
Goldy/1B
Jazz/2B or 3B
Volpe
Martian

They would win with that !🎉

I’D BE WILLING TO GIVE UP SCHMIDT FOR DONOVON….

GRANTED IT COULD WEAKEN THE ROTATION, BUT WE CAN GO IN-HOUSE UNTIL THE TRADE DEADLINE.

CASH HAS BEEN STOCKPILING PITCHERS…..MAYBE WE CAN FIND LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE WITH ONE OF THOSE PITCHERS.

IMO, I THINK IT’S WORTH A TRY.

You absolutely can not get a player of Donavons value by giving up nothing in return….Cabrera and peraza are absolutely nothing of value. You’re talking about giving up a prospect that had a really tough half season, a bench player, and a guy out of options. That’s entirely unrealistic

It doesn’t look like the Yankees are going to overpay for anyone. I believe them when they say it’s going to be someone in the organization, unless none of them can play up to expectations. I really want to see Paraza get the leash Volpe got at least until the trade deadline. I know that’s not likely with the stated plans of the trio vying for the position unless Paraza tears it up in the spring.

I would NOT give up Schmidt or Cabrera. Peraza, sure, even though i really like him. Ian Happ can also play 3B as a secondary so that would be another trade i could get behind! Or a Colton Cowser who also can play at 3B! Any of these 3 would make me happy! Leave Schmidt and Cabrera alone, they belong here. Peraza, Periera sure.

Clarke Schmidt would be an even swap according to bbtv. Might have to overpay to get them to move him. I always thought it would come down to a package of Schmidt and Oswaldo Cabrera, which actually wouldn't hurt the defensive versatility too much because we'd have Jazz who can play 2b/3b, Peraza SS/3b, and Donovan 2b/3b/OF. They can shift around if need be. Although I think we can get a deal done with a package around prospects not named Dominguez or Jones. Here's to hoping. This one move would actually complete this team.

Cards are trying to shed salary. Donovan makes less than $3M. the Cards are not trading Donovan, and we want nothing at all to do with Stro

Let's assume Schmidt is traded, who becomes the 5th starter by default for the moment? I'm not against the idea of this. This is just a legitimate question that would require a contingency plan.

I don't say Steinbrenner is cheap, but I do say that he'll put analytics and spreadsheets, sometimes at the same level, he does as winning the championship.This is undeniable. We lost last year to the Dodgers, and they are not giving a rat's a** about the threshold or whatever. This is an arms race like USA versus RUSSIA back in the day. If we are going to stay in it to win it, we have to compete on that level. And that means breaking the threshold, not worrying about if you're trading marcus stroman first. If they got a chance to get brendan donovan, then just go do it make it happen. If Arenado ia there move, stop dicking around and make the move. They're actually better off acting as if they don't care whether or not they trade Stroman. Because if they make out like their crying poverty, a lot of teams are going to make them wanna eat more of the salary so they actually probably could save money by going after the play of first and Nonchalantly, trade away stromman, but I wouldn't even do that.I'd keep 'em around.You never know when someone's gonna get hurt. Get a backup catcher and maybe a bench piece, and then you're on par with the Dodgers. Then I'll say, Seinbrenner is doing everything necessary, and it's up to the players and boone to go out and succeed. But if you are going to say salary cap this or we gotta make this trade first before we do that, that's putting money before championships. His father never ever did that. Winning was everything and you don't get that vibe from Hal sometimes. Can't worry about well.The tax is going to double this or blah blah blah. Then it's about money. If it's not about winning a championship, you do what you have to do to be just as good as your best competitor. End of story period.

The focus has been on the wrong Cardinal. Donovan fills so many holes - 3B and can fill in at 2B and LF- left hand bat who would be perfect lead off hitter. Give them whatever they want.

No way they go after Donovan. Read way too much on how Boone and Ca$hman are all in on DJ at third this season. It kills Ca$hman knowing he signed DJ to that contract and has not gotten squat out of him.
