Virtually no loading at start-up, and none in-game either (aside from the brief fast travel transition) So seamless it's scary.

Been hearing some complaints about how after getting an ability/equipment to access a new area, only to be met with another obstacle that requires a different ability/equipment that you don't have yet. That's the core mechanic of metroidvania, to explore and find ways to progress.

Like Super Metroid for example, everyone knows you can shatter the tube in Brinstar as soon as you have power bombs to gain early access to Maridia, but it's not really wise when you haven't got the gravity suit to counter the sluggish movement in water.

I added this to my collection a few days ago and it's a ton of fun. The exploration is addicting and the run and gun combat feels great to be proficient at. Even if it can be a bit of a learning curve for those who haven't played much in the way of games of that nature. Having played an unhealthy amount of Megaman as a kid, the boss fights actually aren't too bad so far. One of them I even managed to gun down on my first try which was pleasantly surprising.

Not that I needed it on sale but it’s only $12 rn so that’s an easy insta cop! I loooved metal slug growing up so when I saw this game I knew I needed it!
