Manchester City have claimed a legal victory over the Premier League in a long-running battle over financial rules – with conflicting interpretations of its significance.

In a case brought by City, an independent panel has determined that Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules are void and unenforceable.

It is believed this ruling could be seismic on a number of levels and open the door for legal action, however the Premier League insists that would hinge on the panel’s findings over the new APT rules.

Fans need to understand this is not just about City and possibly Newcastle….. these rules, if kept, will impact on each and every football club in the league, investors will be blocked from investing in their clubs and their dreams of a big investor will be gone forever!!!..on the other side the so called big 6 clubs who have already grown before these rules existed will be happy that no one can challenge them in the future because of the massive revenue streams they already enjoy!!!!

@tsdvaks February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Let’s go! City simply play better get over it!

@johnnoble8063 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

How does this affect Newcastle United? Does this mean we can get bigger and better sponsorship to increase our transfer budget?

@martin7955 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

City win

@ababoy4228 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

@tinyplanet_360 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Oh dear…. This opens the flood gates

@kunyagooner February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

The fact that city think it's fair to take inflated amounts of money from an associated sponsor says everything you need to know about the club. They want to be able to buy the best players with the most money and pay them the most. It's a total lack of sporting integrity. It's like beating your little brother at something then patting yourself on the back for it. The clubs reputation will always be tarnished for this.

@Bluemoon4415-s5v February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Sky just can’t do any footballing story without bias. They need to take a leaf out of the BBC playbook.

@chinesechopstix February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

What happened?

@sibat67 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Man City's owners are far from stupid, they run a nation state, 115 also, don't be stupid ….

@KingTheJim February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

The bias at sky over this is crazy.

@clivethereddevil3178 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

I said all along they would get away with it. I am even more convinced now.

@vapeymcvape5000 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Good news for Everton who have a new owner and are looking to sell the naming rights for the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

@paulwheeldon7642 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

I think there were three other clubs that supported Man City in this, namely Aston Villa, Newcastle and Forest, anyone know?

@seanfowler5264 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Corrupt premier league and cartel clubs. Everyman and his dog can see the corruption over the past 20 years. The premier league was introduced by the cartel clubs as a means to line their own pockets. Short term it succeeded but Man City along with other non associated clubs decided enough is enough. For the good of the game the corruption needs a transparent ruling and masters along with others should resign.

@joebloggs2352 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Surely an amendment to an unlawful rule would also be unlawful.

@banned_from_eating_cookies February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

80% of the media embarrassed themselves on this story, in that they uncritically took the Premier League line on this in 2024.

@benyoung4305 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Simple, stop state sponsorship of teams. Oilchester dont want a fair playing field, they want to wreck the keague and pull the shots. Like what LIV did with the PGA.
Im sorry to any real man city fans who suffered with a crap club for 100+ years (they are a nothing club in alm respect and eiuld be without the money) but when tgat miney came in thet bent and broke evey rule going. We can all see it, no matter who you support.
Oilchester fans are few and far bewtween, can't even sell out the emptihad most games. Terrible atmosphere and theres even (unsubstantiated) rumours of them giuving tickets away to university of manchester students to fill the ground up.
This club is a sham, a house of cards thst eill hioefully tumble soon. If you dont like the rules of the league then leave it. Go join the Saudi league.

@ShiftDrift-kh6wb February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

People speak like they understand the rules. Hilarious

@hamdanumar2862 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

😂 Thats a middle fi ger to the red cartel and the corrupt PL

@CANOES-in3do February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Does this mean Man City , Newcastle and Forest can sue the prem for loss of earnings

@CANOES-in3do February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Financial experts told the prem do not do anything rash with the new rules, so as the prem usually do they go hung ho and now the Richard Masters in charge of the prem looks like a complete idiot, the prem hiarchy are not fit for purpose at the mo, and if they loose the 115 case he should be sacked

@jamesmilligan2797 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Masters & the prem…. Starmer & Labour, why do ww have these imbiciles ruining our country & football!?!

@std-s7w February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Solhekol, you no why..Yankee owner are behind the witch hunt for man city,
Can't beat them on the pitch so let's do them off the pitch,and the company you work for are complicate in this..

@neilcadd1651 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

So city should be going for a large amount of money from premiership

@markymoo22 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Mbappe to Newcastle for 2million a week then. From the £5billion they charged their mate to name the club cat.
All good until everyone gets bored.
The smaller clubs wont have a chance now.
Wonder if the Super League will be back in now if they threaten to pull out of Premier League?

@Tommy-jl9dm February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

City cheated everyone knows it but they have the best lawyers.

@leojson7351 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

Premier League died last night

@keano2876 February 16, 2025 - 11:22 pm

The league run for decades without this. City’s owners come in. CONFLICT.
