Carlo Ancelotti claims one of Real or City will win Champions League ahead of knockout play-off

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has laid down a marker to their Champions League rivals by saying whoever wins their play-off tie with Manchester City will lift the trophy in May.

This is the fourth year in a row Real and City have met at Europe’s top table, with Real emerging victorious twice and Man City the other – leading Ancelotti to dub their rivalry a new ‘Clasico’ ahead of their latest clash.

In all three of those previous meetings, the victor has gone on to win the Champions League trophy – in Man City’s case, for the first time in their history back in 2023.

As an MC fan, I'm truly sad: how many times does Pep unfortunately "secure" a win by benching KDB - who is actually the best "concreter" of wins of all time. He doesn't bring any offensive sharpness to the field either: for example, in the form of Doku. City need 27 points from the remaining 42 available in the PL to hit the 68pt threshold which has traditionally been enough to get 4th. If City can only get 3-4 points from the next 4 PL games (very possible given their poor performances all season), then they would need to win 8 of their last 10.

The margins for errors are narrowing with each point dropped. City must get back on track before it is too late. Could this RM tie be that which gets City back on track or derails them completely?
