Many of you have asked to see the highest scoring Scrabble games from my long career as a tournament player. So I dug them up and did a deep dive in this video. One thing’s for sure – both of these games did NOT go the way I expected at first!

Will, you need to put out more of these game recaps, and more frequently. With your fantastic voice and elocution, I tend to watch some of your videos on a repeated basis, and believe it or not, doing this may be helping me remember more good words to play. And I have also started studying words over on Aerolith to prepare for my trip to Montreal Scrabblefest.

I scored 605 earlier this year at Mount Albert Scrabble club in Auckland. I’m pretty sure that has been my highest score

Was thinking about this earlier, but this video reinforces it. I would love to see which word list is being used at the top of the screen next to the tourney and round information. Please consider it. Thanks!

My highest was around 760, mainly because I learned I'm playing against a new player who doesn't challenge words, so I made phony plays that sounded legit throughout the latter half of the game and focused maximizing my score. Made two Triple-Triple plays, and they just took it all in. This happened in a local tournament and not a friendly/casual match too so it was wild. Sadly, I don't have my scoresheet, nor any photos of the board, as it happened 15 years ago.

Still it's crazy that players break 800 without any phony plays.

A couple questions: why is there such a poor selection of Scrabble channels on YouTube? Will, yours is great! The best! But also... the only one?

And: why are there no nice Scrabble t-shirts for sale? Just a classic logo on a maroon shirt? I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

What normally happens in professional scrabble if you find that your opponent undercounted points? Do you take the competitive advantage to increase your chances of winning (I know in these situation it wouldn't have changed the win/loss record)? Or is there a gentleman's agreement that you're supposed to correct your opponent even to your own detriment?

Scrabble dictionaries sure love to be quirky sometimes. It's odd enough that VOIP is valid, but it takes a back S as well?!? Lol

Instead of underscoring your plays, should have overscored them. Could have had your 700 or even 800 right there!
