Civilization 7 is a game that, after playing through the first of its three distinct eras, is shaping up to be very good, but the fact that it’s introducing a huge number of major tweaks and reinterpretations that—in both small ways and big—provide a brand-new way to play Civ means that it asks of its veteran players to enter with an open mind. Been playing since Civilization Revolution
They need to add a feature where it’s possible to turn of the pantheons, or they should add monotheism.
No British leaders,what a joke
I would love to see the Civilization franchise do what Age of Empires did: improve the existing game versions that were the most popular (looking at Civ V) and design a smarter AI instead of the disproportionate advantages.
As a Civ V fan, why do we all accept that we will rarely build wonders like Great Library on higher difficulties? Or almost never be able to be the first to secure a religion? Be the first to become a military powerhouse? It seems silly to me to have a game with amazing routes/strategies/mechanics if you can’t make use of them on higher difficulties. The ancient and classical era are basically spent trying to “catch up” instead of playing the game with all its features.
In my humble opinion, civ 3 is the best one
People complain a lot. As a Civ V player, I have always loved playing the game, and dint enjoy Civ VI when I gave it a go. VII looks very different, and I actually kinda like it. I think it should be different, because I dont want to pay a ton of money for a game similar to Civ V, I own that already. They took a big step in uncharted waters, and some of the changes seem awesome and fix massive issues I have always found in the game (especially the micromanaging 40 cities in end game). Some other changes seem a little dumb or fallen a bit flat but im sure the edges will be smoothed out over the next few months. It looks pretty solid imo.
This support controller?
Thanks for posting the review. I've played since the beginning of Civ and have owned pretty much every Sid Meier's game over the years. But after these reviews, this time it will be a pass. Just looks…bad IMO. Can tell this game was not designed with the original players as the target audience. Will keep playing the old versions. Glad I looked out here, was about to dump the $100 to play it in a few hours.
Civ 6 was my first civ but it completely hooked me. What a great game
Why is it most modern day games require 20/10 vision!? Civ still my favorite but god my eyes are hurting already looking at that tiny text
I dont see the ability to change CIV’s as a selling point. Think Im gna sit this one out.
Been playing Civ since the beginning. After watching this I am absolutely convinced this new one is NOT for me. This is for fan who like to screw around with minutae and statistics….or you folks who've drank too much Redbull and need to be told how to strategic, this should be endlessly entertaining. Great game mechanics leaves room for the players creativity. Who the fuck want to be George Washington in the Egypt? One last grumpy comment. IGN would do well to hire presenters who know how to read a script without sounding like and A.I. high school student boy on adderral. I''ll wait a couple of years for the deep discount.
No, when I pick Rome, I dont want to suddenly play as Mongols, otherwise I would have picked Mongols right away. I don't understand why they made this change and force players to abandon a Civ they picked at the start of the game. And no, I wont spend 70€ to try it out with an "open mind" without the ability to return the game if i don't like it. 2h return window are a joke.
Can't wait!
Ohhh when you say enter with an open mind starts closing mine real quick..
Hard pass on this as there's too many radical changes that deviated from the series previous titles. I'll just stick with 5 like I have been for the past decade.
Why do the characters have to be so cartoonish?!
Great clear concise breakdown of the new game. Thank you.
People say $120… on Xbox market place it’s $130 plus tax it’s $143 at full for me in particular at least, criminal
Best civ games were #1=Civ5, #2=Civ4, #3=Civ2.
Wow these paid promos are getting even more obvious with their wording. Looking forward to the game when it's playable in June.
Civ 2 was an amazing step forward all the rest incremental advancements.
i seriously hope the workers last for a long time
Boring ass game
I only played Civ 6 but this looks like a 10+ year old strategy game. The UI, animations, character details and graphics overall are just really off. Sometimes it feels like a cheap mobile game. I have no idea why or how they could have achieved this in an age of beautiful indie games.
Україна буде?
I am not much impressed from what I see. With the 6th installment, it seems Firaxis completely lost the spirit of the series. Now I do not see much to draw me in. Will continue to play the 5th CIv with Vox Populi mod. For me, this has always been the best Civilization experience.
Look like HumanKind game format, wasn't a fan of that game – This one I am going to wait and see
This looks more and more like they just took the parts that I didnt like about Humankind and added it in….
I just do not want a bare bones game where it takes them years to fix it and add the content that should have been there at launch…. But you have to pay for the privilege.
Will it have KB&M support on series x?
Whoever did this video is a complete moron. Saying that Civ has not had any weak points is just stupid, I stopped listening after that. Waste if my time.
I'm not buying this game. So stupid to switch your CIV. I hate the building cities out rather than up since it is not a correct scale on any map. Building a wonder in a farm. Just stupid. CIV 5 is the last good Civ. Screw this company. And of course all these lap dog reviews have their knees dirty no matter what crap is put out.
0:20 “no game is substantially superior to the others.”
This is true if you’re not counting civ 4
So I am trying to come into this with an open mind. I shant hide the fact you don't pick a Civ is ironic based on the franchise history. When I play Civ I want the fiddly left at the door, and this new Civ-system seems fiddly. But, I thought the same about Districts, and I was very wrong about that. The new diplomatic system, that's got me a little worried. Just because I have enough influence points, I could in theory make a Civ do something that's against the interest of that Civ. I was wrong about Civ6 so welcome to give this it's solid chance. I will be changing that black hexegon fog of war when the workshop opens though just like the first thing I did for Civ6 was get the Civ5 texture pack haha.
Civ 7 or is it Humankind 2?
It's testament to what a phenomenal, legendary Sid Meier's original Civ1 was.
looks like it came out 15 years ago
The leaders are still cartoony like the last one, they could have at least made them realistic
I don't understand one thing, why did they lose the realistic style that was so beautiful of Civ V. Most fans of the game still prefer it. Game looks great but a lot of the mechanics pertaining to the civilizations, stuff like playing Great Britain as Pachacuti (which is like taking the Humankind approach, which I liked, and taking it to absurdity). I think some Old World inspired features, maybe with systems of government instead, and tweaks to economics (so as to not have to play like a State economy throughout the ages), wouldn't hurt.
"enter with an open mind"
thats concerning.
Got civ 6 on PS5 but can't even play it. Crashes in the late game with no fix. It's ridiculous puts doubt on this franchise for me.
Come on Firaxis. Release this game and leave it be. I need you guys to work on X-com 3 😭
doing the leader thing instead of civs is a huge dealbreaker for me.
Wow, they straight cribbed the leaders change per age from Humankind
Influence points seems like a nice touch, honestly
I've never played the first 6. is this a good jumping in point for a newbie like me?
Weird how the leaders look
This game is something I've always wanted to play but didn't like the graphics. The graphics for civ 7 look more modern and playable. I also kinda find the game a bit difficult 😢 wish they'd make it a bit easier.
