I can get why they alter the original 2 for all the newer releases, but I wish they'd just let there be a specific difficulty setting that brings back the original game's enemy placement/number etc..

I remember struggling through it when I first played, but I'm going through it again and having a ton of fun compared to the sigma versions. The challenge and absolutely frustrating moments really do make it something special! Itagaki had a vision! Lol

For me, I personally would have loved to have the original Ninja Gaiden 2 instead. Mostly out of a concern for the system requirements given that my rig is getting on the years and can't run games such as this anymore. So having the original would have been nice.

Game is decent. I did find myself getting frustrated in a lot of fights. Not from like actual difficulty but like bullshit grab spam and camera issues.

There were some welcome changes like the weapon upgrades being tied to your essence unlike the sigma version where you could only upgrade one weapon per chapter and for no cost at all leaving all your inventory full of heals making the experience easy and boring, the statue boss fights were removed and the gore was restored which was pretty much my issue with the sigma version not necessarily the lower enemy count. Making this the definitive alternative to Vanilla Ninja Gaiden 2 for me. However it's overpriced and there are a few missing modes that had no business being absent from this "remake".

Anyone knows if master collection is sigma and sigma 2 or another collection? I already got sigma and was thinking if getting the sigma 2 but if MC have both i d rather get this one. Anyone knows ,pls? Thx.😊

Finished this remastered on Hard and what a joy it was to play it. I just cant wait for Ninja Gaiden 4 ^^ Im so ready

Tbh i just wish dere was more costumes! Like man why do they keep removing csotumes every release if it was sigma remaster than were the hell are the rest of those costumes! But tbh i just wanted that DOA ryu best costumes hands down😭😩i wanted to see it n beautiful high resolution

I really miss how fast the combat was in the original, this version is a tad bit slower especially since the AI is constantly trying to grab on the harder difficulties.

I'm really happy that Ninja Gaiden finally return. This game is so fun seriously, i have played the original years ago and it's too bad that this black version has less enemies but i didn't buy the master collection because sigma 2 is censored so this black version with blood and the 3 playables girls is what i need.
This game reminds me that i need more action games and a game with no stamina gauge is a pleasure.

Honestly, the review for the most part sounded less than glowing so I'm surprised that the final score ended up being an 8? Maybe the whole discussion at the start about which version this is a remake of kind of brought down a lot of the review's vibe but I really didn't get a great understanding of much of what actually made this game shine that much?
Notably, I think that the discussion of the bosses only had one negative boss experience and not much else.

The differences between NGB and sigma aren't important to anyone new to the franchise. I would say don't worry about it.

I've never played Ninja Gaiden 2 but im torn between picking this up or just getting Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for cheaper.

5:36 got some guts saying that, but man I couldn't agree more, I despise souls games not because they're bad, but because they destroyed the action genre for me, I'm not a fan of the games, and it seems like every game "has" to be souls... for me it's such a breath of fresh air seeing games like Ninja Gaiden and Phantom Blade Zero, we really could use some more stylish action games

The review was pretty good, but why the random FromSoft dig? Souls-likes aren't even the same gerne of game as Ninja Gaiden Black 2. NGB2 is a character action game. Sekiro was a character action game from FromSoft, and I would agree that game's obsession with parrying and guard breaking has influenced the character action genre, but not Dark Souls. Dark Souls is an RPG that created a subgenre.

So you stated the PC version of FF7 Rebirth was the definite way to play when it's plagued with performance issues, also confirmed by Digital Foundry. I'm not sure you are qualified to state if something is definitive or not. Im tired of reviewers stating their opinions as fact.

Huge fan of the series, this is a legit and great review, feeling the same way about it, if you bought the Master Collection you have this game already, an amazing action game but not the version that makes NG2 a true legend in how insane the 360 version was. However mods can fix this, already did fix the Master Collection (the NG2 part at least) and they can be ported right into this version on PC!

Original Ninja Gaiden on xbox was always my favorite :) The pacing of both the progression and combat was perfect. After that they upped both the combat pace and amount of combat but I preferred how they balanced it in the original.

While it´s not an ideal situation and I´d love it if they offer a classic version with the old enemoy numbers and their reduced health, I´m still very happy that a lot of people are talking about Ninja Gaiden again and discover it for the first time. It´s also really refreshing to get a classic action-game with no soulslike elements and RPG-elements. Don´t get me wrong, those titles should still have a place in the gaming landscape, but we also need those classic character action games.
For me personally: I´ll actually buy the phyiscial version from Play-Asia just to support my favorite action franchise and I´m very excited for the fourth installment.

What's sad is that if purists don't buy this one, the studios will look at it and make up reasons for the failure to sell well. Such as: people don't like it since it doesn't have a stamina system, or people aren't interested in this series or type of game anymore. I don't personally like constant remakes and remasters though.

Ninja Gaiden 2 black took a little bit from both versions of Ninja Gaiden 2. In Sigma you could backflip but in this one you cant like the original. They took bits and pieces from both versions to make one Definitive Edition. It definitely has more in common with Sigma but there's still some of the original Ninja Gaiden 2 DNA in it too, just not nearly as many enemies.

50EUR/USD for a game without a physical release and being basically just a remaster on top of another release of remasters which included 3 games (the Master collection) is too much for me. Then again it's Koei Tecmo, they always price full price. I'm waiting for a discount.

Doesn’t feel like a Ninja Gaiden: Black remake. I played it on the DS and it was freaking difficult to finish the game. But I’ll try out Ninja Gaiden 2: Black tonight. The one ninja franchise that I think deserves a comeback is Tenchu.

Had an absolute blast. Hope they add a classic mode addition for every difficulty. Finished black a couple days ago and now I'm running razors edge. Honestly after fully going through the series after trying razorsa year or so back it feels great and not as bad as i initially thought. Definitely closer to og ng2 with all the bs enemies are trying to throw at you

For 20-30usd this would be fantastic, shame that this industry has completely forgotten how to market itself (tho considering it's a remake of sigma and not vanilla the bigger problem may be cluelessness and not mercantile savvy).

Still this is a good solution to the problem Ninja Gaiden trilogy introduced (namely in preserving the bloodless and boring Sigma 2 over the insanity of the vanilla release) I just wish we never had to "fix" anything.

It feels like this entire review cycle has been:
- New people: what a cool game!
- Existing fans: there are less enemies than the original, it sucks!

So I'll expect similar comments here. Personally, I dipped my toe into the old games back then, but fell off because they weren't DMC. But it's been fun to play through this and start NG Black. Definitely looking forward to 4.
