UE5 is very appealing to devs as it is free to use if you make under 1Million USD! however problems are rearing thier heads with ue5 after 4 years of the engines existence, with things like traversal and shader stutters, low framerates and required upscalers and more

Worst part is that its not a problem for enough people for the devs to give a shit so they will never put any effort into fixing anything whatsoever
it is so saaad to see that 90% of people are ue5 apologists and dont even realize how much dmg they are doing to the games industry. also funny how these 90% are everything but devs and all the devs saying the same thing "ue5 is not the solution guys" 🤣
Unreal Engine 5… FPS is peak comedy 😂
Although 1% Lows are pretty much like this FR in UE5 games 💀
There are really well optimised games on UE5, but it has crappy features especially in 5.3 which seem to commonly enable lazy or confused development, and the usual mismanagement/poor prioritisation from above resulting in a shortage of time to actually deliver a polished product at launch
get ssd
the "Golden Age" of "Hardware requirement Locks, Signature Checks and Lazy Devs"
ID engine for Doom, Doom eternal and Dark ages and RE engine for RE 2,3, Re 4 remake and DMC 5>>>>> Stuttering engine 5
UE 4 was a mess but it worked when u needed to and were willing to give it some love. Not only I found no notable advantage in moving to UE 5, it has the goofiest problems. Even removing a lot of the features it runs like garbo.
Marvel Rivals has that weird problem on PC where u can't load into a game, stuck at 99% as the game goes on the backround and when u do get to play, assests like characters aren't loaded.
What sense does that make? How come I can play a fast paced modern online game like OW 2, AC 6 PVP or Mecha Break no problem but no matter what settings I use UE 5 games shit their pants when loading or managing memory?
One more game thats blurry, has shit lighting, ass performance, stutters, ghosting everywhere, shadows and reflections shimmering is going to make me lose my mind. Tired of those lazy ass devs dumping half the development time to AI to do the work for them.
ue5 seems like it was intended for the film and tv industry but was marketed as a game engine
Those games are for rich people
UE5 Doom's lighting looks too good to be true, it doesn't even flicker and there's no ghosting
I hope Bethesda sticks to CE for ES6
I have a 9800X3D and soon a RTX5090, Idont care, move on and buy new stuff and stop crying.
I'm buying RTX5080 just to be able to play Stalker 2
In-house engines are not a bad way to go about, but even the Creation and Frostbite engines have issues last time I checked.
it's really not garbage plus the short of doom is just making fun of unreal
just played half sword on epic graphics on a gtx 970 no problem
BUT… MUH NANITE!
You clearly don't know anything about making games, as you said and I've understood by the beginning of the video. I've been studying unreal and game development for 3 years, and you can obtain very different results in temrs of looks and performance on the same level with the same assets by tweaking settings around, optimizing the logic and choosing what kind of light/atmosphere actors sources to use, there's many things you can and should try to avoid, use or tweak depending on the exact project. You're complaining that UE5 games all run with some issues, or not as well as they could, while that's literally the vast majority of modern videogames being released deapite the engines, from generic looks to bad performance. You made this video because you just convinced yourself you know it all while actually not knowing anything about the topic, while the issues you complain about is not an isolated case, but one of the most common issues of this industry as a whole.
Then yes I agree that UE5 can still be improved, but because I see how it could get better, and not because I have to convince myself that it's impossible to make something look and run good, on such a complete and complex tool, cuz others cry about it without any kind of knowledge
Another new version of UE, another new version that lies about their goals of UE5.
They promised:
Less bugs
Easier to use and more tool
Less usage of Upscale and Framegen
Less need of optimization
Better performances
So… UE haven't achieve a SINGLE ONE OF THE PROMISES THEY SAID ON THE PRESENTATION OF THE ENGINE.
UE5 is as bad as UE4.
Companies developing and invested WAY MORE on framGen an DLSS/FSR and Upscaling more than they do on optimization
I wish more games used UNIGINE instead
that's not what a stutter looks like, what you're showing in the intro is called rubberbanding
Kingdom Hearts 3 is probably the best optimised UE4 game and Tekken 8 for UE5. No stutters or crashing, but with T8 it has some blur from the forced TAA
this is not an unreal engine problem but a developer problem
I've been working with unreal engine for 7 years now, and the engine runs fine if you develop within the limitations of your target hardware
the problem is devs developing in i9s and 4090s for i7s and 2070s, and even lower specs like steamdeck
all games will run like garbage on the steamdeck if the target hardware was an i9 and a 4090
– stuttering due to shaders compiling at runtime can be fixed by compiling before opening gameplay; takes 2 or 3 minutes but it solves it (any engine loading assets into memory will stutter)
– loading assets from slow HDD will also cause stutters, so either install in an SSD or get slow streaming (any engine loading assets into memory will stutter)
– frame drops are mostly due to transparency clusters, so developers have to optimize their vfx to prevent them (any engine rendering transparency clusters will drop frames)
yall complaining about this like vice city didn't casually stutter everytime you crossed the bridge, cuz that's where the streaming overlap controlled the loading of assets
this is not an unreal engine problem, it's just how realtime rendering works, you're just noticing now cuz you're the one paying $70 for the games, rather than having your parents buy them for you
Absolutely hillarious seeing DOOM run that bad in UE5 while it can run better on a pregnancy test
A lot of devs are even calling UE 5 trash. It's an animation engine for movie studios, and should have never been developed to make actual video games. Epic is a trash company what else could we expect?
This made me scared for The Witcher IV.
The most annoying fucking thing was that every time I pointed out UE5 was a poorly optimized piece of fucking shit, I got pushback from people going "No no no no bro the engine is great, it's those incompetent devs who are at fault for misusing Tim Sweeney's gift to gaming."
I am so glad that the public opinion is finally starting to turn and people are realizing that they fell for a bunch of guerilla marketing. Took them long enough.
Honestly as a diehard stalker fan they fucked up stalker 2 so much like they ditched the entire dark atmosphere of the original for those call of duty eye cancer unreal engine contrast colours
Yah. 60FPS 800p on console. Let's go!
Every fool has an opinion
I recommend watching Threat Interactive if you want to know more about how of a mess UE5 is.
