Would this rack be a good budget option? If not, which rack would you suggest?

I’m not a fan of Smith Machines but I had to come watch the Bad Guy do his thing! Plus I think RitFit is fairly self aware. They understand where they are in the market while at the same time listening to customers about improvements to their products.

RitFit seems to be really listening to the community.

Gotta fanboy on Brandon every once in a while lol. I’ve been finding myself going “Its tiiaaame” to my kids when I start heading up the stairs to put them to bed. Great review and one of the most positive you’ve done on a “budget” piece. Thanks!

I got the M1 2.0 and during install those rails were bugging the hell out of me. They definitely could’ve beefed them up, especially if they are dropping the price by 300+ with discount.

In my humble opinion, racks with integrated smith machines is a fad. If you want to get jacked they are completely unnecessary. Companies are always looking introducing new functionalities for people to keep buying new gear otherwise they would go out of business. In 2-3 years it's going to be something else. Integrated seated calf raises?

Great review, glad to see RitFit getting some love!!

For anyone considering this though, I'd say the RitFit M1 2.0 all-in-one is probably a better buy!

Main issue is the Buffalo uses non-standard 70mm x 50mm uprights which significantly limits attachment selection compared to the 2" x 2" (50mm x 50mm) uprights used on the M1 2.0 and many other brands like Rep's PR-1000 and Titan's T-2 series.

Plus, the M1 has a better smith machine that gets lower to allow things like deadlifts, rows, hip thrusts, etc...

Also, on the RitFit website the Buffalo only has a 353lb per-side capacity for the cable system compared to the 420lb per-side capacity for the M1.

Then you get 6 plate storage pegs + 3 barbell storage slots on the M1 vs just 4 plate pegs and 2 barbell storage slots on the Buffalo.

And on top of all that the M1 2.0 costs less, usually available for $1K or less!

Only real advantage I can see for the Buffalo is it comes with the dedicated leg press plate which is really nice (btw, if you lay backwards on an incline bench - head towards the seat - you can get a better angle for pressing with less back rounding compared to lying on the floor!), but you can still use basically any smith machine like the M1's as a vertical leg press even without the plate so it's not a huge deal.

But still, I think RitFit is probably the best option in the price range right now and either way you're getting an incredible value for the price!

They even have said they will be releasing weight stack options soon too!

2025 def seems like the year of the Smith Machines. I personally wouldn't like to me locked into one bar path, but LOTS of people love them.
@HughLeFitness February 4, 2025 - 5:43 am
I’m actually surprised. This is RitFit’s best so far. Definitely a sleeper build. Doesn’t cost a beaucoup bucks too.

For that price, this rack does seem like an awesome deal
@619_ER February 4, 2025 - 5:43 am
I’m sorry. I will never purchase anything from RitFit again. The rack I had for just a month now is absolutely terrible. But I will say the customer service deserves acknowledgment. They gave me a pair of spotter arms when my safety pin pipes wouldn’t line up from bent uprights.
@jtam222 February 4, 2025 - 5:43 am
What do you think about the hole spacing? They seem really far apart for safety and lift offs
