Answering once and for all why chose to stay with Unreal Engine 4 and why have no plans to upgrade. In short, UE4 just works. All I hear about UE5 is new features I don’t want and complaints about performance.
Project Feline is a high-speed parkour action game with precise momentum-based movement and a 2000’s anime art style. Play as Gabi, a feline-human fugitive searching for her lost family. This documentary series explores my journey as an emerging indie game developer building my dream game from start to finish.

Oh man this doin numbers. Before you call the based department I gotta say I'm not a game industry authority, I haven't worked at Blizzard for 7 years or anything like that. I'm just a gamer who wants to make his own game. While making it I've learned there is more to game dev than what engine you use. My devlog series goes all the way back to when I only had the default UE template project. Check it out for the full backstory of how this game has come to be: https://youtu.be/playlist?list=PLwv43wkNGxP26aMPNSDfbLVO_Vcx7IFHy
It always feels like I'm dealing with some kind of input lag or mouse acceleration. I just can't put my finger on it.
and your character is gonna be pretty popular with artists when it's released :v i can already see it
Look at Dead Island 2 and the newest game that uses it SoulMask.
Unreal 5 isn't needed and Unreal 4 can hit amazing graphics even without it and keep an amazing performance.
Also, Unreal 5 appears to be an overall shitshow in terms of actually making new graphics features work in a performant way without tons of blurry ghosting, AI upscaling, or straight up frame drops.
That a interesting choice astetically for the character animations. It looks like rotoscoped sprite work while being 3D?
I can say it makes everything pop out a bit.
And DEFINITELY don't burn through all the budget and then get distracted by a shiny new engine right before launch. Save it for a remaster.
But I do have do disagree on your impression of additional features. While true it may not make a game good in itself it can't make a good game great, or a meh game, 'worth it'. Quality of life features or significantly better visual features are additive to a project by improving the overall experience. Even if merely as a order qualifier for an ever growing number of users who have begun to expect it. But if you are doing it for sales alone, the forcasts better prove the new customers will offset the extra costs.
Kinda jeallous that you're able to use UE at all. The best I can do is RPG Maker😉
