Hello guys and gals, it’s me Mutahar again! With CES 2025 wrapping up I wanted to talk about something that caught my attention. Valve is finally bringing SteamOS to devices outside the Steam Deck and as a person that’s promoted Linux for years on my channel, I can’t wait to see this enter the mainstream. Why is this a big deal? Let’s find out! Thanks for watching!

All fun and games until they release it only for a diverse audience.
The Market share is gonna go from "wow windows is still winning" to "STEAM OS RULES ALL"
Honestly though I'll probably switch to Steam OS after it's released, mostly just wanna make sure I know what we're actually getting, haven't seen enough to say.
I can't wait to switch. In October I was going to switch anyway because of Microsoft refusing to support 10 anymore.
I have Bazzite on Rog Ally, Legion Go, Steam Deck OLED and my desktop PC.
I don't know if you read the comments of your videos but I recently (just a few weeks ago) bought the Legion Go for a chunky 800€ and honestly I've been having a great time with it! I didn't even know such devices existed until I found out about it while looking for a Steamdeck alternative. Now the prices for it dropped a lot since New Year's and the announcement of the Legion Go S also dropped, and I'm kind of mad honestly since the SteamOS seems to be the answer to the few gripes I have with my Legion Go. Returning/Refunding in favor of the Legion Go S is not an option unfortunately but do you think it will work well if I just go and install SteamOS instead of Windows11 on my device once the OS releases? PS: I enjoy all your videos, long-time watcher. Keep up the good work!
We gotta get linux to double digits by 2028
I unfortunately need windows for work so a dual booting tutorial is much appreciated
I was going to swap to linux but had fears.
Steam os and you at my back im feeling good about this.
Ive been using my steamdeck as a descktop lately. Mostly tinkering around, but i can honestly say the learning curve really isnt that bad.
I’m considering moving. But a good way to make a decision about the OS is to let users transfer without wiping the drive. Like with Ubuntu. The opinion to install without losing data is a deal breaker.
So hyped to switch to this instead of Windows 11, it's so conveniently timed with the end of Windows 10 and my PC can't run 11 anyways
The new console wars now it’s the OS wars
Since the support for Windows 10 is ending this year, I am more than looking forward to upgrade to Steam OS.
If I was Microsoft I would be looking at getting xcloud cloud gaming running really good on the Steam Deck (assuming it isn't already) and making it dead simple to install and use.
If Valve can put out SteamOS for generic PCs (with a wide range of hardware compatibility etc) in a non-beta easy to install easy to use form before Windows 10 EOL in October, there will probably be quite a few Windows 10 gamers out there who will switch to it instead of Windows 11.
A friend told me something about how different operating systems go
Going with a car analogy.
Apple OS : is the power wheels of the operating system world it is so dumb down that your grandma uses it to play Candy crush.
Windows: your average US driver. knows a about as much as the next guy about computers but doesn’t want to tinker with anything.
Liunx of any flavor: the grease monkeys of the OS world. Liunx users, not only pride themselves into knowing the ins and outs of their computer, but they know every single component by codename.
Ever since switching to liunx I have felt a deeper connection with my computer that I would never get on windows. It’s an interesting feeling to have.
I just want to put a "powered by steamos" sticker on my pc so bad
For some reason now i want to buy steamdeck.
Linux making these big moves against Windows is like the human resistance beginning their rebellion against he Combine
Love from a Xanderhal and Vaush fan!
I really didnt wanna have to upgrade to Windows 11 in october or whenever theyre ending support, hopefully itll be going by then so people can try it out
Switch 2 vs steamdeck 2 vs xbox hanheld vs next gen windows hanhelds vs psp 3 vs Legion go S
Hanhelds are the future and it is wild
What Linux options are there for gamers switching from Windows with no knowledge of Linux
girl voice ? wtf kkkkkkkkkkkk
I want a version of steam OS for my laptop. So tired of armoury crate and windows. The only issue is def gonna be power profiles, specifically cpu boost clocks.
An Xbox handheld with Quick Resume would be amazing. Day one but for me
Apparently Valve watched Muta's earlier video, and moved accordingly. 👍
By the way, has Sony apologized for its copystrike campaign against investigative journalists covering one of its game studios' server breach? That disgusting act from 2020 is why I'm not even buying Ghosts of Tsushima on Steam, let alone on a Sony-manufactured console.
Linux will never be as popular with how elitist some Linux users are, and as you said, the amplitude of various distros that literally nobody would want to bother figuring out the minute differences between each.
Valve just catches W's so easily
There is so much Steam in here, its getting too hot someone needs to open some Windows!
i cant wait to hear "Erm i used linux before it was cool"
sadly for VR, the experience is not quite there yet when using Linux …
just to get the extra RAM because I'm using the Desktop mode quite a bit, I might go for the 32GB Windows version, even if I reinstall SteamOS on top of it.
Gimme gimme gimme
Bruh, it's been available since, December 2013
Getting SteamOS before Half-Life 3
asus legion go fits well for me as i lost the ability to bend my right thumb.
Can’t wait to see how it performs. Currently I’m on Linux mint and it’s been a nice and smooth experience.
