I disagree with most of the list. Most of these songs have never gone away for the people who like them. Then again, maybe the list has nothing to do with the ones who were around when they were released. My nomination for number one is on the list at number twenty. Holding out for a Hero fascinates me with its popularity. I like it, but I can't figure out how such a powerfully misogynistic song survives today. My latest x-wife loves it and she's about as new age as you can get. I knew the songs new? lasting? not sure the right word, but I knew it wasn't just a household thing when a 20 year old friend, I DM for choose it as a sound track for a potentially epic moment in a Dungeons and Dragons game. I'm not saying he had analyzed the song beyond the basic "I need a hero" lyric, but that he even knew it existed surprised me.

Like a Prayer by Madonna made a major comeback thanks to the Deadpool movie. I am working in retail and I remember one time this song played, the store environment turned into a big karaoke moment. 3 Gen Z customers are singing to it heartily, a morher and her son are also singing to it, a straight couple are are also singing the line especially the chorus "When you call my name its like a little prayer..."

3 songs I never heard... only two of the comebacks have I heard/seen. A lot of the songs I reference in my stories. As for Safety Dance, the pogo was banned because there were incidents of the floors fallingnoutbof clubs, and the dance was blamed.
