The Dual Income No Kids Lifestyle

Patrick Bet-David explains how the Dual Income No Kids (DINK) lifestyle is often portrayed as the ultimate path to freedom, financial stability, and endless travel. But behind the glamorized Instagram posts and carefree weekends, there’s a sobering reality few talk about.

In this video, we explore the hidden downsides of the DINK lifestyle, from unexpected emotional costs to long-term regrets. Are we chasing the wrong goals in a culture obsessed with consumption and short-term gratification?

Even when DINK make less, they have more disposable income.
@zvvl3465 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
That’s a hard pass for me bro lmao
@Adrian-op5ni December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
It’s going to be lovely for them when they’re 55+ and no kids, parents dead, spending Christmas by themselves and their little dog all sad at the dog park. 😂😂
@grant3hanson December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Tax breaks for stay at home moms in a marriage!!! Raising kids the right way is more important than living in that 50k more expensive house
@Gentleheart22 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
I’m gonna marry my pot farmer boyfriend who’s 28 years older than me and barely can afford taking care of himself and I’ll be a full time working mom. I’ll prob be a widow by the time I’m 50 but at least I’ll have some kids
@shiningdragon8737 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Most people just want the bare minimum of needs met and that's not happening. We aren't asking for luxuary homes and apartments, but can I have something somewhat nice in a safe area at least, and it not cost half my income?
@angelalink3863 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
😂😂😂😂 it’s funny how men believe all women want children or abusive men.

Women back then had no choices I’m happy you think that’s better for men and children but not women.
@angelalink3863 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Well back then the income helped now taxes and low pay do not.
Everyone coming out to have more kids it’s not because they care, they need more laborers to add to the SSI program.
Try removing taxes and pay women more and not penalize them for taking off when they have children.
@patrik3450 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Got my first kid at 34, my gf is 34 too, we’re only getting one more.

In Denmark we get taxed over 50%. I can barely pay for a family with 120k income before taxes.

I try so hard to set money aside, let my gf work less but we just can’t. We have a mortgage but it’s way below average amount.

To those saying I don’t have financial responsibility, this is not America. Everything costs a shit ton here.

The inflation, taxes is killing us.
The lower income people get more money paid out than me here, middle class is killed.

My gf friend, works like 50-60% employment, she gets like 1000 DKK less paid out than full time employed nurse girlfriend. Insanity
@isai4130 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
All the fast cuts are nauseating
@dangentry1599 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Instead of a million dollar house how bout à 600k house. Yeah OK how bout any house in any shape that most americans cant afford. He's out of touch
@khodges2 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Men staying home. Hilarious!!!!
@robertnewland7115 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Buy a 350 k house and a 250 car payment..
@robertnewland7115 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
I went to college as an insurance to be able to get a job.. My husband left me. Now ❤i have worked as a single parent raising my 3 children
@evilpuck6100 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Having kids does not make you brave.

Once more we see society blame each other at the bottom

when the reason many are deciding not to have children call for pointing the finger at the invidious who make living in this place a hell hole to keep up with both mentally and financially
@freeamerica1 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
This dude is so out of touch with the average American. Top 1% has more money than bottom 50% but you'll never hear that from this guy
@aakashjunooni December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
I would like to express my heartfelt thank you to those who chose to not have kids, coz my kids will have less competition over resources in future
@tepeyac10 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Women are pickier and pickier by the day. So many men who are actually solid have to deal with these super complicated women and can’t even find wives or get divorced. It’s not men’s fault
@billsmith9297 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Being a parent is not for everyone, and that’s perfectly valid. Life offers countless paths to fulfillment, and parenthood is only one among many. Some people find purpose and joy through career achievements, creative pursuits, travel, volunteer work, deep friendships, or simply by cultivating a rewarding lifestyle that doesn’t include children. Suggesting that parenthood is the only road to happiness overlooks the richness and variety of human experience.

For my wife and me, remaining childfree has allowed us to focus on our passions, maintain flexibility, and embrace opportunities that might not have been possible otherwise. We’ve built a life that brings us immense contentment in our 50s, and it hasn’t required raising children. Different people will naturally choose different paths, and recognizing that variety is a key part of understanding the many ways we can lead fulfilling lives.
@sweetsteven217 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Dinks here. We make a killing with no kids. We love every minute of it because we don’t have to really worry about much. We are in a demanding trade and work a lot of overtime so it’s not really affecting us any with prices skyrocketing. At this time I’m glad we did what we did because I cannot imagine how people are surviving at this time.
@wakeupnow8825 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Correction… 56% of people don’t feel the need to try and explain themselves to people who are not their creator as to why they don’t want to have kids.
@aaronfigueroa6480 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
First 48 seconds and I'm already thinking that this man is ridiculous. The family with kids make an extra 9k. But they have to spend way more on their kids. School/daycare/clothing/transportation/medicine/vacations. Like bruh it's not how much you make. It's how much can you keep
@robert039 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Feminism caused this
@hanab837 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
It is not easy, but my husband and I have 5 children. I stay home with them, and my husband works. We have a small home and only one vehicle. We have made sacrifices. We do not eat out or take vacations. I do not buy new clothes for myself. Every sacrifice is worth it. I get to see my kids every day. They are the future. Investing in our kids is never a waste.
@AB-tb7bt December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
You don’t need children to have a happy, fulfilled life. Some people become parents that shouldn’t be.
@holistic_Ology December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Ah! I am 32, a SAHM, expecting baby 5...we got married in the year of the Donald 😂(2016) it was an adjustment to stay home and not work at first because we women are raised to have a career from kindergarten onwards. But once the first baby was born, I was the center of his tiny world and could not see myself having a career. The feminist who wrote the books has no children, how could they possibly know how liberating it is to be a mother. I took a deep dive on the history of feminism when I stopped working. We started with a small salary and now he makes more money, but we live like we live under the small salary we started with. Materialism can really hinder your life.
@b-art6098 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Why do women in US don't have maternity leave? How about fixing that first?
@2gj906 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
The same trends will continue and even be exacerbated by the fact that Nigeria will be the third most populated country by 2050 competing with the whole European continent in terms of population numbers
@c19ANDRE December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Because it’s too expensive plain and simple
@ismaelcamberos5534 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
I like this channel but all those reasons Patrick gives are pretty stupid. This is the vilification that people who don't want kids have to go through. For no reason other than people think we're selfish. This is such a brainless take. We exist without our consent and we don't owe anyone anything. Shaming tactics are nothing but a tool for people who don't have any real argument to bring forward.

Yes. The current economic climate doesn't help and people are working to get by. Some don't want to get by. They want to enjoy life.

If you get your joy from kids. Good on you. If I get my joy from my cars or having life experiences. Good on me.

We're not hurting each other for either choice. Worry about yourself.

The wolves are upset the sheep won't reproduce.
@naturalLin December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
We are siwk. Single income with kids🎉
@matthewhoover6154 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
I'm dual income no kids. Wife doesn't want kids, so I just let it alone, but I've been having a bit of an existential crisis now that I'm over 40, I fear being completely alone and feeling lonely when I'm older. I already am planning on having to be very involved in volunteering and community activities. That may not be good enough to feel fulfilled in old age. I'm sure everyone has these thoughts, though, maybe even people with kids.
@cjsmith8319 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
My wife and I had our son and we knew deep down that we were one and done.

We wanted to expand our little coaterie and take him/her around the world with us.
@El3mendazooo December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
If you live in the U.S. I’d recommend you never have kids unless you are wealthy. If you are a man you should never marry, at least not an American woman.
@j.hernandez983 December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Have kids. My wofe and I are not rich with materials, but the love we have in our family is a wealth that cant be measured. Kids press you to be a better person if you're willing to admit you need change.
@JeffreyGillespie December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
There is literally no way to survive in America anymore unless you don’t have kids and have a dual income. Congratulations we are not going to repopulate.
@ErichelHernandez December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Wow respect to you I really think everyone should do what you just said. Just a really good thinker.
@b2200mlb December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Can't even watch this. Can't believe we have allowed DINKs to become such a subject. I have kids, you dont, who cares?
@mookingbird December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Not sure about the US, but in Asia, the richer middle class and highly educated ones choose to DINKs but it's the lower income families that end up having kids and tend to struggle more financially wise. Researchers should look into that.
@mookingbird December 30, 2024 - 5:14 am
Nah, please don't have kids just because. Make sure that you're mentally, emotionally and financially stable and in a healthy relationship before having kids, otherwise the kids are the ones who will suffer the most.
