Nobody Wants to Die Review

by admin

Watch our Nobody Wants to Die review by Carli Velocci on PC, also available on PS5 (PlayStation 5) and Xbox Series X|S.

Nobody Wants to Die’s relatively brief story isn’t completely original, but it has a cool mix of inspirations and unique worldbuilding touches that all work well together to create something new and engaging. It holds your hand a bit too much for a game about the art of investigation, but its conversation system picks up the slack with humor, unexpected outcomes, and a surprisingly deep story about how your past can be your present —  even when you’re facing immortality.

Just finished it over three days, maybe 8 hrs total? Way too short, and very repetitive at times, wasting what could’ve been more content. Aside from that, it was good. For me, a solid 7 out of 10 too. For an original IP, they did a great job with unique game mechanics I’ve never seen before. However, they didn’t provide enough exposition and it was hard to really care about the main storyline and what we were actually investigating as James Karra. It was a vignette, not a complete story. In terms of graphics, world building, mechanics, and originality, that pushes what would be a 6 due to execution and writing towards a 7/7.5

I wish with a compatible game with such rich graphics, they'd mention being able to play it in UEVR with full 360° VR, it's the main reason I'm going to play this

@Marlo_Branco December 10, 2024 - 12:56 am

it looks like a beautiful game … but it's a shame to make a detective game where you don't have to use deduction or detective skills 🤨
And some games have redefined the genre in recent years: "Return of the obra dinn", "Shadow of Doubt", "The case of the golden idol", "Chants of Sennaar" …

@Marlo_Branco December 10, 2024 - 12:56 am

Great review

He can't remember his past but drowns himself in booze to drown the pain of things he can't remember. Makes sense.
