The Thing is a 2002 third-person shooter survival horror video game developed by Computer Artworks, published by Black Label Games, a publishing wing of Vivendi Universal Games, and distributed by Konami for Windows, Xbox and PlayStation 2. Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance versions were also planned, but both were cancelled early in development.

Set as a sequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 film of the same name, the story focuses on Captain Blake, a member of a U.S. Special Forces team sent to the Antarctic outpost featured in the film to determine what has happened to the research team. The game was endorsed by John Carpenter, who voices a character in an uncredited cameo.

The Thing was a commercial success; selling over one million units worldwide across all platforms, and received generally positive reviews. A sequel was in the early stages of development, but was cancelled when Computer Artworks went into receivership in 2003.

Nice to see a proper review of this game for once, so many people think this is a terrible game because of Spoony's video.

But you must do Alien Resurrection on the PS1 sometime G.

Saw the movie on old school late night SciFi Channel as a teenager. Somehow got my hands on a copy of the game? Played it on my grandpa's laptop over the course of a few months but I have a vivid memory of playing it from start to finish during Xmas vacation in a rented cabin at Lake Arrowhead, CA.

The remastered game just came out and I'm anxious to play it for the nostalgia berries.

Remaster looking good! Can't wait

7:50 this is old but you stoopid regardless. One of the amazing features of this game was the ai. And 90% of the time when an enemy was after you but wasn’t set on fire you could actually utilize the flames as a barricade. The ai would wait for the flames to slowly fade before proceeding to assault you making the process of taking on big dangerous bastards really easy. Of course there was the issue with some ai being either bugged or too smart where they’d sometimes just ignore the fire and walk through it charging at you despite taking flame damage themselves or they’d simply retreat, hide in a corner, and the second the flames dimmed they’d charge back at you. For a 2 decade old game the ai was very much ahead of its time especially for an old gen 2 console. The only thing that personally bothered me was the fact that corpses of enemies would disappear as with most gen 2 console games though it’s clear they had that feature to prevent the game from developing frame rate issues considering the large quantities of enemies you had to kill.

@chandrakant1479 December 8, 2024 - 8:18 pm
Brilliant game!
@Megaspartan23 December 8, 2024 - 8:18 pm
With Night Dive working on the remaster, hopefully they can include a crosshair that changes color when you damage enemies if you choose free targeting, take squad mates with you for boss fights, have your squad mates turn into the Thing at random like the original developers intended, and get Kurt Russell back to voice R.J. MacCready.

Remake on the way. Looking good never played this.
@slopeboix2589 December 8, 2024 - 8:18 pm
It'll fight if it has to, but it's vulnerable out in the open. If it takes us over, then it has no more enemies, nobody left to kill it. And then it's won
@dr.loomis4221 December 8, 2024 - 8:18 pm
