Personally the wishful approach I think SONY should pursue for the next generation.

Holiday 2028 (November) release the PlayStation 6 console.

Come SPRING 2029 Drop Two Handhelds SAME TIME.

March 2029 Sell TWO handhelds: PlayStation PORTAL Gen II & the PlayStation Portable 2 (Or whatever they call it)

PORTAL Gen II strictly for streaming from the console or through the PS premium service.

The PlayStation Portable 2 should be a full fledged stand alone hand held that plays all your PS games (Whole PS catalogue - Can Play PS6 games at lower resolution / lower graphical settings), obviously capapble of streaming as well. BONUS - The PSP2 can be docked with the PlayStation 6 and can provide a 20-30% performance boost to game performance.. Some AMD Magic so perhaps they can skip the PRO PS6.

Both should have OLED or one has the QD-OLED screen. WIFI 8 (WIFI 8 should be appearing in products around 2027 so 2029 is reasonable). Both should have the latest USB-C ports - one on top of the device and one at the bottom and should allow for the PSVR2 to connect to both handheld devices. SSD 2TB Standard w/ ability to upgrade.

If possible, if the technology is available for mass market production, incorporate state of the art SOLID STATE BATTERIES in both devices.


PRICE: Keep the PlayStation Portal GEN II price at $199 since it is only streaming. The PlayStation Portable II I would price at $999.99.

This is region based. AUS and NZ don’t have this. NA does, donno about EU. So people look up if your portal supports this feature. Do respect you pointed this out.

Sony mentioned this la year on the ps portal release. They wand to see how well it would sell first. And during the Bethesda-Microsoft vs sony lawsuit , Sony was rumored to have better cloud systems in place than Microsoft. Sony is the only company that has systems in place, but doesn't act on them first.

It's no handheld it's a crap cloud streaming device that requires internet to work so if ever the government we're to get rid of the Internet adios PlayStation portal meanwhile Nintendo switch, steam deck, rog ally and the countless other great true handheld gaming devices will still be accessible, Sony has been rubbish ever since they abandoned the handheld market making better looking games but being forced to play on a crap TV no thanks Sony you'll never get us true handheld hardcore gamers money less you bend the knee and make a hybrid system that allows both parties to be happy in other words Sony is like the Titanic a massive company that dreams of better game graphics but will soon be plundered by the iceberg that makes them sink they know this and that is why they are trying to buy out as many companies as they can to take all the good games for themselves and leave nothing for the competition thinking it's gonna make them more sales yea right Sony You will just use up all your money and become bankrupt

But it's really not and no matter how many sucker's on YouTube promote it otherwise, if it can't play games natively, it's just a streaming device .
