In the Space Imperialist vs Alien war for your attention, Starship Troopers: Extermination brings a knife to a nuke fight. It’s a shooter you and some friends can find fun in, especially in its tough Horde mode using its simple-yet-distinct classes that help focus the overall large-scale bug-blasting vision. But you’re doing so in spite of how long it takes to unlock all the more interesting gear and abilities those classes have in store, how uncoordinated some of the multiplayer modes are, how downright bad the single-player campaign is, how barren the handful of available maps feel, and the lack of biodiversity in the bug swarm. It’s a serviceable battle that can get frantic in the thick of it, but there are far more noble causes to give your virtual lives for in 2024 than this.

The game is addictive! It's abit clunky but the updates help with gameplay! The tiger bugs get me everytime

Did you guys really bring the flamethrower into hive hunt, real engineer players that actually took the time to understand the game bring the shotgun. But IGN also trashed alien isolation so at this point I’m not surprised they trashed this.

Remember when games were about fun?

This just sounds like you specifically don't like it, which is fine. Not everyone has to like the same games.

Like, this game is clearly made with passion for the franchise. They're not forcing any sort of political message down your throat, they're just making s fun game.

I'm not a huge fan of it being online only either, but i can also play something else. No point in complaining about something so small when you have so much to choose from

Game looks good, plays good, is chaotic and the Arachnids actually feel like the threats they're supposed to be.
The reason a lot missions are hard to win is because the Arachnids are careless monsters thay only want you dead and will gladly pile up their own bodies to climb the wall you built.
If the game wasn't so difficult because of how crazy the enemies are, it would be too easy.
You're supposed to have trouble getting to evac, especially when you don't need to evac to win. As long as you complete the objective, you win.

Maybe if there was a little bit more enemy destruction? Part of the reason Helldivers 2 is so satisfying is because it feels like the guns and explosives etc that you use really have good physics behind them. You can blow bugs to absolute smithereens and it feels like it has real weight behind the explosions and bullets when you see chunks of bug fly off.

One thing I really wish they’d do.
Is disable friendly fire.
The battles are so chaotic and theirs so many players it’s nearly impossible not to shoot your teammates by accident because players keep getting in each others line of fire.
The game is still a lotta fun though.
Ranger is my favorite class.

I think where it loses the appeal for me is Starship Troopers is generally known for its gore, and this game lacks it being a 16 rated game relly takes the fun out of it. It's a fun game, but it could have been so much better with the gore added and maybe having spaceship landings like in the film.

They couldn’t just make a first person shooter with a story? They had to make an impossible piece of crap with no story, and now everything is play with other people. Some of us want to get away from others and play a game. Also building structures? Come on people

The game is super fun, best PVE game to date. Brings back the excitement I felt when Left4Dead first came out. The reviewer laments it takes a long time to unlock weapons and abilities, in my experience it doesn't take long at all. A night of playing hive and wave and you pretty much got everything. I've re-enlisted and started over before, something that you have the option to do when you hit level 100, which starts you back over at level 1 with the added ability slot you previously unlocked. One night of playing and I can hit level 9 - 11 depending on the class. Demolishers are beasts, once you unlock the auto shotgun you basically become a one-man army. Unlock the Watkins switch and you can charge into the bugs blasting and popping off the grenade pack on your back, then blow your ass up when you get knocked. Wiping out any bugs around with the nuke blast and it doesn't cost a player ticket to do that.

I’ll trust IGN reviews when they’re actually accurate. IGN used to be the go to source to know whether something is worth playing or watching. Now they just don’t know what they’re doing

I feel so bad for the reviewers, they have completely lost the feeling of playing a fun game. It doesn't have to make sense or have unlimited replayability. Is it fun for a good price if yes then it's a good game
