Unreal Engine 5 is Ruining Gaming

i disagree, it makes it easier for small studios and even single people to have access to the same tools and get a level a quality not possible for a smaller teams… however huge penny pitching gaming studios with 100s of employees choosing to forgo their engines that theyve worked decades on just to try and learn a completely new one and fire half their staff all just to save a buck, Unreal engine 5.5 is the best gaming engine it has features that have never been seen before, Check out the new fluid system… it is groundbreaking but almost all of the studios using unreal 5 aren't even using the nanite feature. they just want an engine and thats where the go wrong, The Isle is a very underrated DIno Survival game with a very small team thats using unreal 5 and its amazing the level of quality it has for what i believe to be a handful of people and they actually are pushing to add every new feature, eventually there will be floods filling massive canyons and plains completely changing the map. Fluid flux is ground breaking, so was lumen, remember when everyone was pissed that theyd have to get a $1000 rtx card? Epic came in and said no, also the sound system in Unreal is unreal its basically actually is real sound. i highly disagree that older games look good or better, they just aren't blurry, they still have resolutions lower than 1080 half the time, Unreal instead is like adding 25% blur but no matter how close you can get too something the textures and quality gets better and better, few older games actually look good, Gta 5, Mass effect, for example looks like absolute trash now even tho it was top of the line, compared to anything in Unreal 5, the texture are low, the shadows pop in like 50 ft away from you, let alone Unreal 5 wouldn't need an entire engine rewrite just to change something extreme simple, only cartoony old games might look better and thats just cause studios keep going for a realistic style, Have you seen Fortnite lately? i havent played it in years but its on unreal engine 5 and its not blurry and look crisp and super good and doesn't require a $5000, thats how you know its know Unreal engine 5 isnt the problem
Irresponsible consumers are what's ruining gaming. If people buy whatever slop a company sells then the company will keep making slop. And there are alternatives to the slop. You just need to take a few seconds to look beyond the first page of the Steam store.
The thing I'm worried about the most is that as more devs adopt UE5 more games will start to look and feel the same. As if the gaming industry isn't devoid of creativity already.
I agree with you.
Who are ruining gaming are the lazy developers/studios, and NOT the tools.
Unreal Engine is a great tool, but I think no game engine should have monopoly over the industry.
We can feel on ourselves that a MONOPOLY can ruin user experience. I look at you "BIG tech" (Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Google, etc.).
Luckily there are competitors to Unreal Engine, like Source 2 engine, Unity, Godot, etc., and that is good for the industry.
Regardless of gaming: If everyone, who has power in their hands, would be more humble and honest, then we would be more satisfied with our lives.
i pretty much only watch libve action movies and play photo realistic games for me i have the oippaset if its cartoony and dosent look real i cant take it seriosly and get immersed in it but if it looke photo realistic im instantly sucked in its been that way for a long time its why so many games i have never played even before this photor ealsitic stuff i didnt play them cus they wernt realistic looking enough to me and i was unable to get into it i tried many but couldent enjoy them i have even modded minecraft at this point to be etxremly realistic cus i just cant play it in its defualt state it looks lazy and effortless without any of the shjaders and high rez textuires or just dated and old and i ghet that feel with every game that isent photo realistic they feel dated and old to me
I think the video creator just wanted to be counter culture so he'd appear cool. Like that friend who always has something negative to say about the most expensive restaurants no matter how good they truly are.
1:29 man,how did you knew 😮😮
Theyre making these games more unoptimised to force you to buy a better GPU. They realise graphics wont change much…. Its a big monopoly. This was clear since Starfield, with todd howard saying “get a better graphics card”.
Yet another example of a company pushing their agenda
@NovemberHotel Please do a better job researching, especially if your video can influence the opinion of a lot of people. This sh** made me unsubscribe :/
No it’s not lmfao
Everyone needs to report this video for misinformation. This guys is intentionally misleading people to believe that this applies to users, when it is simply guidelines for their code when it is being written. Not any of the content that is produced with the code. Typical Right wing misinformation
I agree with most of this. It's dangerous that Unreal is capping the market. Unreal always had jank, and IMO more crashes than most other engines.
Understood, I will begin learning to make stuff with Unreal engine 5
I’ve learned to make music already so I think I’ve got this lol
Saying atomic heart has no artistic vision is insane its one of the most beautiful and unique looking games of all time especially when it comes to the weapons and abilities it also ran at 120fps when i played it with a 2070 laptop gpu
most unreal engine games just feels the same
I couldn't care less about graphics. I just don't get it, why do you need hyper real textures? I want:
1) A fun game
2) A finished game
3) A game that runs well, at high frames
i feel u bro i can spot an unreal game just by watching the niagara particles looks so f boring. The homogenization of games is the worst part imo.
Personally, I don’t like hyper realistic graphics. I would go as far to say they take away from the experience. I’m not saying every game that looks realistic is boring, but when I play a video game, I want to immerse myself in someone’s artistic vision. It doesn’t matter if that vision is a survival horror nightmare or a hiking simulator with cute animal characters, if there is no creativity in the way you present your game, people will pass it by no matter how fun it is to play.
UE isn't ruining gaming, laziness is. Greedy, corporate laziness and thinking we'll just buy whatever.
Skyrim was over ten years ago, and it would bankrupt a company to make it today.
WTF with all these jackass youtubers bashing on UE5? smells like someone is paying them to spew bullshit about how UE5 "RuInS gAmInG". That, or they can't even understand the topic they're discussing.
QQ
this is you
this didn't start with UE5, it's just getting worse
I don't necessarily think that UE is the problem, more that it's a symptom. The problem is games being made as quickly as possible with funding that is attached to corporations that have their own agenda that they want pushed with that funding
In the past, great games didn't use unreal
Great video. Soon Rockstar will be the only studio using their own engine.
