There is no such thing as prosumers. Just consumers who look for the best bargain and consumers who tech companies can con to pay three times a much with their Orwellian 1984 doublespeak words like "prosumers"...lol

@ForgingMyLifeNovember 26, 2024 - 8:17 am
The camera is VERY GOOD in good light but shit low light.
@ForgingMyLifeNovember 26, 2024 - 8:17 am
You could recommend it because it's Not a phone.

The aspect ratio is fucking awesome. Surface Uno would also rock but I can't not have the Duo.

This thing is absolutely ready to buy. Have had it four months and LOVE it!!! For a 1.0 it is amazing. I disagree that it's not ready. Use it longer dude and u will succumb.

Great review. Only complaint is saying that this is a phone. This is not a phone. Microsoft never calls it one, and on the website where they show a video with all of the modes it has, "phone mode" is one of them. On this device, the world's most notable and consumable mobile device has been regulated to a mode on the Surface Duo.
Secondly, I really wish people who heard about this device and wanted to learn more about it would have gone to the source- Microsoft, specifically Panos Panay instead of these Youtubers. Phones have gotten so boring that reviewers complain when a phone doesn't have a refresh rate of more than 60 hertz, and if laptops have "a little bit of flex or wobble in the screen". So.....the screen is supposed to be made out of a solid piece of marble these days? I didn't buy the Duo for three months because I listened to all of the Youtubers instead of getting on in my hands and trying it for myself. I've had it for two weeks now and I absolutely love it.

While Best Buy sells this, they no longer have it on display. As you mentioned, most Microsoft stores are closed. AT&T sells it but it's not on display since they don't have the manpower to constantly clean phones between people touching it.
If people want a dual screen, go for the LG Velvet ($396 at T-Mobile) or LG V60 Thinq ($699 at T-Mobile and includes dual screen). T-Mobile currently has the best pricing of all the carriers. Of course, you can do a trade-in to lower the price but that's monthly bill credit.
Kudos to ScaryIfLiteral as he's the only one reviewing the Duo. The top Youtubers gave up on the phone after the unboxing.

Great commentary. Too many reviewers are comparing Corvettes to 18 wheelers. They are not built for the same thing and neither can do the job of the other efficiently. Likewise, we need to get away from the "one size fits all" mobile device. I use a remote desktop and this device with it dual screen and separate keyboard feature is a godsend. Some of my documents need a "wet" signature which is easily accomplished with the stylus. Specs have become nothing more than a pissing contest between brands. I applaud Microsoft for being a trailblazer in this area. I am glad to see that you and Scary are taking a more objective view of this device and devices like this; thank you.

700 off surface duo is from Microsoft's trade in program. 700 of you're trading in a phone that's less than a year old. My samsung s8 brought in a whopping $45 credit. $700 is mostly likely the latest generation of iPhone, samsung etc

The Surface Uno!!!! You hit the nail on the head!! Great review.

Fair review, touched a lot of good points. Loving my Duo but it cannot recommend it yet to friends who are not techy enough to acknowledge the current bugs and have patience. But it is a "priority changer", moving away from the classic social media use to a more productivity tablet/laptop one, and when people get more familiar with foldables and the whole multitasking abilities and flow you have, it will be recognized as it deserves. Duo 2 will hopefully provide the complete package that can appeal to more people
