anyone knows how the pixel 6 pro sound quality is?
@thirstypilgrim97 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Why would you want an inline DAC when the LG has quad dacs?
@JoelO-j4j November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
iOS is always superior to Android
@mingkee27 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Actually, I have over 300 albums of FLAC files ripped from CD.
Play with Poweramp (HD out)

For recording what is best ? Iphone or smartphone ? Is there a difference in quality ? Thx
@ymmij1973 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
The only thing I don't like about your video is Californication I can't stand that fucking song and the newer Red Hot Chili Peppers just annoying as fuck!
Typing this on an LG v40 and I also have an LG v50 and V60 when this one dies.
@nerdloftgaming November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Definitely need an update to this. Currently using my iPhone 14 Pro Max with the Doppler music app. Effortlessly transfer my FLAC files via local WiFi - and with Apple’s solid Lightning To 3.5 Adapter ($9), listening to my music through my IEMs have been amazing 🤤

The only downside to using my iPhone is, of course, the lack of expandable storage. Not too bad since I’m not carrying my entire library with me anyways.
@smayaan2479 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Can we have an updated video on this since we have iphones with C type ports now. Im really excited to know ways i can use my iphone to listen to hi res music
@0rgaSMM November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
The Apple Dongle is fine. It’s better than most of the stuff out there. The only reason I would change it is if I were using high impedance headphones
@michs8775 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Be interesting to see this again with the USBC iphone. Would be interesting to see if hi res can pass right through to the focal Bathys or PX8 connected to USBC.

After this video came the LGV60!

Currently venturing into the world of Hi-res audio with a 3 month free trial of Qobuz and experimenting with my iPhone and PC until I get a portable DAC. Thanks for shedding some light upon the internal workings of the phones, that was very helpful. I have an old iPhone SE with a headphone socket and as I expected the output from that will not be as good as an external dedicated DAC, but it is better than bluetooth AAC to my headphones. Of course the big question is - how will this all change when iPhones start coming out with USB sockets instead of lightning. Hmmm.
@squidystings November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
UAPP?

It's simple.. PAY hard earned $$ for OFF line Hi-res Play, but ON-LINE license confirmation is required EVERY time the app is started?!? HOW do I get MY$$ back!?!? Not to mention a "root tweak" that still requires "active"Google play store to function that you don't find out about until you PAY and install.

Food for thought..
Camping
Underground parking
subways
Multi level shopping malls

ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY.

A Hi-Res DAP is far cheaper long term! period.

Paying for LIES!

LG, had em for years...and now I gotta switch...I guess Sony or Asus
@callumelcombe3703 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Lots of dongle DACs now come with an iPhone or USB C option at checkout, I know FiiO definitely do some dedicated lighting ones that are very good.

LG V30 + FIIO FH3 + UAPP /MORPHIT TO FIIO FH9 = HEAVEN
@fofocho71 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
I have an expensive iphone 14 pro max, a cheap lenovo tablet and a FiiO BTR5 connected to both via bluetooth. Music sounds way better from the cheap Lenovo tablet as it uses LDAC which reaches 990 kbps. Iphone uses poor AAC, limited to 256kbps
@alfredoguadarramam November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
This is Alfredo from Mexico and yes, I like your actitud. Sugestion, have you heard about E1DA Power DAC V2.1? Could you have a try on it? I am surprised what about you? Rgds
@kristiandawe85 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Can the Dragonfly dac drive my 64omh Sennheiser hd280 pro headphones, I am considering getting one to use with my old iPhone 11, I mainly use Spotify and Apple Music set to there highest quality audio formats, also what about eq setting, will the Spotify and Apple musics native built-in eq still work
@Dan.TheFriendlyGuy November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
I have Xiaomi Mi A3 Android phone and it has 3.5 mm jack. Do I still need DAC dongle for better music/audio experience?
@aquasaeri November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Hi ! I had been folow You since I found HD sound ...
What do You think about HD pleyers... Like HiBy R5 Gen 2 ?
@texasbassranger November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
I bought a good friend an Onyx THX dac amp, not realizing she had an iPhone. When she found out that she had to spend another thirty dollars for the lightning to USB adapter, she just threw the Onyx in a drawer and forgot about it. I offered her cash for it so she could enjoy her birthday present the way she wanted. I felt bad, but then I remembered my first smart phone was an iPhone 4 and how much of a digital jail it was.

I kept the Onyx and fell in love with it. The clarity and sparkle it provided was beautiful, whereas my Cobalt Blue had problems with the bass bleeding into the midrange. I use the Onyx almost daily.
@dan44762000 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
It’s simply not true the the iPhone doesn’t do background downloads or you need the screen to be on for it to do so, absolutely NOT true!
@Yossarian_Lives73 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Could you revisit this?
@paulmcdevitt2038 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
While I like the detail of these videos, and totally get the dongle hell on the iPhone, I am always a little bemused by the whole audiophile versus mobile phone arguments. My serious question is how many people use a mobile phone as their primary audiophile listening device when mobile? There are so many interfering factors when mobile, outside noise being chief among them. Even when just sitting in my backyard there can be overhead planes, kids screaming (hopefully for joy), lawnmowers, etc. The list can go on.
Or is it more about using the mobile phone as the streaming controller while indoors, in which case surely using the mobile device to 'deliver' the audio is not the best bet anyway. I use Volumio on a Pi3, connected to a DAC to my audio system indoors and use my mobile phone purely to control what song to play. Outdoors, I use my mobile to listen to music for enjoyment of the music but not as an audiophile experience, expecting all the noise and interference in the world.
@pedropicapiedra4828 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
As and iPhone user I don’t like use AAC for Bluetooth, I would like use Aptx or another better codec for Bluetooth headphone but in iPhone you can’t change it. Android is better for audiophiles that’s my point
@Gregdsilva915 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Could you kindly do a redo on this it’s a few yes later what has changed and what’s to come iphone 15
@jedipdx November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Listening to this on a Samsung with external DAC. Sounds incredible like a movie theater.
@dawnrazor November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
9:42 why not use something like a fiio ka3 which comes with usb-c/A in the box and you can buy an lightning usb-c mini cable for around £10. The KA3 is very good has an ess DAC. I see this kind of setup much simpler than the daisy chaining of multiple adapters for iPhone
@junekazama4578 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
My solution, Hi Res FLAC on My SD Card, in my android phone. Using it with Chord Mojo. A good music player app is the Neutron Player. Does hi res.
@hachi1631 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Best audio of course LG
@OOnti-dz4jd November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Apple uses AAC Bluetooth codec. Androids use AptX, AltxHd, LDAC. Case closed
@eespinosa64 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
So what are today's (2023) options for phones that have a great internal DAC?
@gnar-ninja November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
can i use one of these dongle dacs and wired headphones, while at the same time using bluetooth headphones paired to the android/iOS?
@dubieshel November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
Fiio ka1 comes with options for ios and Android connections
@geraldoram2453 November 24, 2024 - 2:41 pm
I have Apple Music on my iPhone which is hi res and uses Bluetooth to any Bluetooth headset or earbuds. Sounds great.
