OLED Mod Coming for Original Steam Deck
https://steamdeckhq.com/news/oled-mod-for-original-steam-deck-being-made/
A community member named Shade Technik has introduced a new screen mod for the Steam Deck called the DeckSight. This is a 1080p AMOLED display panel that can be installed into your Steam Deck, giving you access to the more vivid colors from the higher contrast panel.
The specs for the screen make it sound like a very appealing upgrade, and while they are still being finalized, it sounds really fantastic so far:
Max refresh rate: 165 Hz (up from 60 Hz stock)
Peak brightness: 800 nits (up from 400 nits stock)
Contrast ratio: 100000:1 (up from 1000:1 stock)
Response time: 2 ms (up from 30 ms stock)
Color gamut: 90~105% of NTSC, 102~110% of sRGB (up from 50% of NTSC, 79% of sRGB stock)
There will also Matte and Gloss versions for those that want the anti-glare coating that is present in the LCD’s 512GB Model or not.
To make this work, Shade is using a new FPC ribbon cable that will ensure compatibility with the DeckSight panel. It appears this will be what is needed for the device to recognize and use the OLED panel, which is something I was worried about when discussing putting an OLED panel into an LCD device.

Rockstar Games Launcher is Better for Deck!
Rockstar says the launcher has been improved
If you install Red Dead you’ll have to login once but after that you’re good and you can play offline which is awesome
I recommend checking out the Steam Deck HQ article on how to get it running at 60fps because it looks like this game runs like a dream
Hopefully Rockstar circles back and fixes GTA Online for the Deck but maybe the reason they broke it is the same reason as EA removing support for Apex Legends – Cheaters
Monster Hunter Wilds Might End the Franchises Dominance on Steam Deck

Sadly, there really isn’t any way to bring performance into a playable state no matter what. Even at the lowest possible settings, with FSR 3 at Ultra Performance, could not get up to 30 FPS. There was no way this would run at 30 FPS without insane sacrifices, which isn’t really fully possible. I even forced the resolution down to 800×500 and was only able to get to 26 FPS while standing still (also at Ultra Performance). Having Native AA on did make it so I could see the game, but unfortunately, it was running in the 10-17 FPS range.

Wilds was maxing out my main rig CPU 5600X, RAM 16GB and GPU 3070 as the only running application
World was notorious for bad performance but was a shocker to see it run on Steam Deck
For World, the monsters on the map were constantly moving and interacting even when they are offscreen which was the reason behind why the game was heavier than previous entries
What is the major difference between World and Wilds that causes the performance discrepancy
They should keep baking it til it's done first before it is released to the stable branch.
