OpenLara – Play Tomb Raider in HD, 2-play co-op mode & as an FPS!
It’s been around a little while but I just got around to trying it. Provide this game engine with the original Tomb raider game files from either PC, PSX or Sega Saturn and you can play on many modern systems in HD.
I am using the OpenLara core for RetroArch but there is a standalone version, a Switch port, an original Xbox port and many more. There is even a web based version you can play.
If you’re a fan of the original and early Tomb Raider games I can’t think of a better way to play it on a modern system.

[[EDIT]] only affecting my Linux rigs. Probably just a keyboard layout or setting.
It's too difficult C language, I can't understand how it works.
I only have formal training in Java.
bobs in HD
Also shimmeying on walls can be glitchy too - Lara will sometimes get stuck and float off the platform. I almost got stuck on Natla's Mines just after where you kill the first enemy - I dropped off the edge onto the platform with the save crystal. But Lara would not grab the edge at all, and I kept falling into the lava. Eventually I managed to glitch onto the platform below and continued on.
But I did manage to finish the game using it ! It looks like it has been updated since this video as my water effects looked a lot nicer than this video, and the shadows were a lot less glitchy too. It takes the best parts from the PS1 game also e.g. you can use the Save Crystals for extra challenge, and the Uzis actually have their beefy PS1 sounds not the garbage PC sound effect. Also you get all the right PS1 music tracks as well as the PC ambience too. So you get the danger music with the T-REX and also the creepy Atlantis heart beat.
Also the outdoor mechanic looks great too, it's wierd seeing the Lost Valley with an actual daytime sky lol.
I wonder if they could include the IOS versions HD textures? and maybe a TR2 version? it lets you open Tomb Raider level files but I haven't yet tried it with the TR2 levels or the TR1 Shadow of the Cat expansions.
