The reason why you weren't "in a position to cover first" is because you didn't stick to the basics you no doubt learned in little league. Sure Betts is a fast runner, and on that particular play, he was flying. Still, you had the angle on him. All players know, balls hit towards first base that, kinda draw the first base man away from the bag means, that the pitcher has to haul fanny over, to cover instead, and make the play {unless, the pitcher [is waved off] by the first base man... indicating, 'thanks, but I got it'}. A great player like Garrit Cole's assumption, sparked that Dodgers comeback. I think the score was 5-0 Yankees when it occurred. At any rate, that's baseball. Cole, and the Yankees will learn from it and probably come back strong next year. A key for the Yankees to me is, don't change your formula. Tweaks are ok, but try to keep that same team. If Soto wants to go, what can you do? Though they lost, they're still good! GO DODGERS!

Rizzo "The Lazy" After Cole gets into trouble cuz the Defense, the bases are loaded with no outs!!! He strikes out Lux, he strikes out Ohtani, you must be mentally like a fielder, wanting at all costs to end what could have been a horrendous inning, and Betts is at bat and hits a soft ball that is comfortable so he can attack it, walking forward, his glove is on the right side, it was so easy, he must be hungry to end the inning. Cole was already tired, he almost got 6 outs in 1 inn. The slow and lazy way Rizzo attacked that ball only shows how disconnected he was from the situation, and in the end, Cole takes all the blame. INCREDIBLE!!!! Yankees 5-0 at that moment, Rizzo did not make the slightest effort to want to finish Betts off by itself

These errors looked intentional IMO. VERY SUSPICIOUS by most likely bookies and pay offs

I miss the days of Joe Girardi. I guess the analytics told Aaron Boone stay in The dugout and blow bubble gum bubbles during that disastrous 5th inning instead of going onto the field to settle his team down. Sports are getting worse and worse and harder to watch. It's just pissing me off now. I'm starting to not care

It appeared that Cole was in a position to cover first due to the fact that kids are taught in Little League that the pitcher runs to first to catch the ball from his teammate. It looks like Cole's in shock mode here ( understandable ), and that it's too hard to admit that he had a brainfart.

Those errors in an elimination game of the WS is just inexcusable. Soto deserves better wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at the Mets.
