I love that in all of these videos of "POC react," the older participants (ya know...the ones who actually faced horrible injustices) always care the least about getting caught up in retribution or revenge or politics or any of that. It's always the younger privileged ones that whine the most. Interesting to see.

every day this week I cleaned up 4-7 plastic bags and put them in the proper recepticles. Just walking down the street. If every person did that, can you imagine what the world could look like?

5:26 🙄 everyone forgets the REAL history… SHE IS A FREAKN CHILD IN REAL LIFE WHEN SHE MET HIM!!!
@Unknown13thorder November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
I am Native American and I find this shit hilarious 😂
@lynnepaquette4124 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
i just saw a movie last night and I was pissed. Obviously white actors and actresses were playing the indigenous and I was more irritated and offended then enjoying the storyline.
@betsylang2366 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
Hey React, yall don't need go explain how indigenous folks are represented in film to indigenous folks. Just let them explain it go us, the audience. They're words not yours.
@irishgrl November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
Btw Johnny Depp does have some Native American ancestry.
“Johnny Depp was born in Kentucky and raised in Florida, with a heritage that includes German, English, Irish, French, African and Cherokee. His racial heritage is particularly strong on his mother's side, and his great-grandmother Minnie was a full-blooded Cherokee.”
@tishatittle1010 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
Actually Johnny Depp is part Native American, he's part Cherokee. From Kentucky originally.
@nietoproductions2865 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
Red man is crazy
@jjdjj5392 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am

@Mimi-Aury November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
The flashy editing is my only complaint, great video! Hope better and more humanising representation is made in the future
@kilo-303 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
13:10 it was the Vikings
@sailorcat November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
In my eyes the Pocahontas movie did definitely criticize the English people just coming in and destroying/conquering the land. And to me it was never just about the love story, it was about peace and understanding each other without prejudice. I know it's not historically accurate, but I really love the message behind it.

Every time I see a clip from Smoke Signals, I want to make the biggest frybread that ever existed.
@mariazubizarreta November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
❤ i loved smoke signals
@OOOMOOO160 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
As a native from the Navajo Nation tribe. It’s only racial discrimination against us if you make it… stop bitching😂😂😂
@josephhammond4561 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
Its a challenge to tell young natives the history of natives while showing random media examples. When i was growing up i saw different tribes and cultures on tv/movies that had nothing to do with mine but that were popularized by history. So as much as i want us to be all alike and similar, we arent. Knowing your history is the most important thing not what any movie, song, tv show, or play, makes you believe. Ask your elders and respect them they will teach you more than you could ever learn from any media. From a Half quechan and half mojave full blooded native, seek knowledge.
@angelvaldez8048 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
Why not do a survey on how people feel and what they think about the infamous enrollment policy...it's definitely a hot topic. It would be nice to see someone do justice on this topic.
@DanteRaweater November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
Wasn't Johnny Depp's mother's side indigenous?
@SKUALZAR_SCM November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am

The old dude is cool and lady but the younger ones idk what to say
@brianbadonde8700 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
as of today saying Irish are the indigenous people of Ireland is considered a ''hate crime'' and you can be charged and imprisoned for putting that message in a public place
@Dell2YT November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
Pardon the title but i wonder why Frank Oz' "Indian in the Cupboard" wasn't included.
@javiersilcock4637 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
This was one of my favorite movies growing up as a kid. I am mixed with Mexican and African-American and Native American Choctaw now I look back at this movie and it's making fun of our people. Not cool at all uncalled for not cool at all.
@deer-hartrosequarz146 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
White media marginalizing Native media creations for fear truth will be told. It's the bully not wanting their atrocities to be spotlighted.
@raymondpierotti8414 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
It's OK, the Comanches adopted Johnny Depp for "honoring them with his portrayal". That makes him a genuine Comanche
@saucygyal6480 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
It’s nice to see American Indians
@craighanks429 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
The history of white encroachment onto Native American lands is the most shameful episode in this country’s history. A long disgraceful line of broken treaty’s, promises, thievery by the agencies and non-stop lies by government officials. How can such a story of the extermination of an entire race of peoples be told without shame?
@jwhaler82 November 3, 2024 - 5:25 am
Opinion of idiot white guy:

Regarding Pocahontas: I don’t think Disney is trying to erase history with this movie. I think they were trying to tell one of their classic fairy tales and decided to put this one in a historical (sort of) setting. I think as long as we educate people on true history, we can tell stories like this. In fact, I think the fact that history is often messed up is the reason we want to tell stories like this.

Also, I love that the Natives in Pocahontas are more human and less caricature than in Peter Pan.

Please don’t hate me.
