I have one of the OG sport 15’s that has no forward assist or a dust cover I bought back in 2015 and literally thousands of later, that thing still runs like a beast. In fact it’s a farm gun for my daughters and I and it’s pounded its fair share of coyotes and other animals. Probably the best $600 I’ve ever spent. Might have to get a new.

I have the Sport 2. It must be veey clean to cycle steel cased ammo, where being dirty it cycle brass 100%.

I own the sport II optics ready and I’m very happy with it. They are designed to be used as a cruiser rifle for the police. Which makes it an excellent truck gun.

I just bought this Sport 3, first AR. Got an Arken Optics ep-8 and gun vice....bout to mount her up. Let's go! Stock, grip and foregrip will be coming next. I also bought a different buffer spring to play with...idk what I'm doing haha

My Sport 3 wss a disappointment. I have two of the Sport II models, and they've been great right out of the box. My Sport 3 had an awful trigger out of the box. REALLY heavy. I know a trigger upgrade is easy but the trigger is one of the things S&W touts on these new rifles so I didn't think I should have to spend $$$ to upgrade their "upgrade." My other factory triggers are very nice so I'm disappointed there. The rifle was accurate, but no more so than my Sport 2 models. I just didn't find it any better for my needs/wants, so I sold it for what I paid and moved on. YMMV.

Your S&W fanboy status knows no bounds apparently. Anything M&P is a POS. Go shoot your P320s and actually get good at something. For 800 you could have gotten an M400.

My first shots out of an AR 15 were from this sport 3, a rental equipped with a holosun 403. I managed solid accuracy with it that a pistol could only dream of, though I do agree that an upgraded stock with actual rubber padding is worth investing in. I’ll never forget that it was this smith and Wesson that gave me my 5.56 baptism.

Buddy didn't know how to rack a round but he was putting a hurting on those plates, that's the beauty of an AR is almost a cheat code.

A2 furniture is not a downside.
1. It works just fine
2. People are gonna change it no matter what anyways, may as well just put what’s cheapest but acceptable on there. Same theory behind why Glock continues to OEM shitty plastic sights cause it’s cheap and you gonna swap em for what you want anyways

I work at a gun store. We have sold a few of these Sport 3 guns. For the price, they are solid for sure. The thing is, most people buying these are young men, 18 to 21, 22 years old. They buy it and say they are going to buy a separate upper from someone like PSA in 8 inch or 10.5 inch, which first of all isnt legal. its registered as a rifle, you cant just throw on a upper and turn it into a pistol. I see a lot of it. People buying more budget ARs (nothing wrong with that) but then wanting to convert them to what is considered an SBR. 5.56 sucks out of anything less than 14.5, and thats questionable. If you are only looking for home defense, or anything less than 200 yards, just buy a 300 BO. I just dont get this new craze of buying a Anderson, Diamonback, Smith, Etc 5.56 and then buying an upper that is 10.5 inch. A 10.5 inch AR sucks in every way possible

To be fair, I feel like a lot of of companies just put the cheapest furniture on their ARs because they know most people are just going to change them out.

The m&p ar's definitely have a different trigger, not sure if it's tge same now they moved south because it was definitely beyond compliant trigger before exceptional for stock budget but when you broke the sport 2 down you definitely seen the anti gun influence of their home range

Looks like a good entry level AR option. In this day and age, circa 2024, sixty years into the lifespan of the platform, it should be a no-brainer to make a good, functional version! But to do so at a good price, that's another matter.

People hate on S&W AR's but it's pretty solid for the money. That burndown test IV8888 did a few years back on the Sport II surprised people with how long the gun lasted.

The wedgelock handguard is a genuine upgrade that's worth noting over the regular cross-bolt style available everywhere both factory and aftermarket

I’ve had the sport II for a few years and no issues. My only complaint was not coming with a rail. This one checks all the boxes and is a great package. grip and stock isn’t a big deal since they are cheap to replace and everyone has their preference of what to run.

I’ve had mine for a while now … well over 1k rds and no issues. Only thing I changed was the trigger. Probably change the furniture next. Love it.
