Conflict for the sake of conflict, characters killed for the sake of killing them. The battles cool no doubt but Rickon had no need to die for this.

The best part of all this is how Ramsey thinks he mocking Jon by calling him âBastardâ which is exactly what he is, despite Rooses proclamation.

Here's how bad the writing is in this season: The chance House Umber would ever betray House Stark is ZERO. The chance that House Umber would willingly give up Prince Rickon Stark, the true Heir to the North (as far as anyone is considered) is ZERO. He who holds the King, holds the kingdom; and House Umber would essentially be the most powerful house in the North because everyone would rally behind them to install Rickon Stark as King In The North.
The Karstarks make not like House Stark after executing Rickard Stark, but even in the books they are divided. They're in it for themselves, and would gladly help House Umber install Rickon Stark, and thus be able to control/influence over Rickon Stark; and destroy House Bolton.
In this battle alone the Bolton troops would have charged forward and House Umber/Karstark would just turn around and stab the Bolton archers in the back and unveil House Stark banners. This is truly when the show became stupid.

Then she went to get the Vale and told no-one, allowing Jon to go into battle and nearly die.
Rarely has there been an assembly of this much talent for a series. This will go down as the beat ever.
Gods the writing was strong then
The alliances that are made and broken, the people who are variously heroes and villians is the over arching theme of this series. Littlefinger saved Sansa's life and Snow's life in the battle of the bastards but a couple seasons later Littlefinger is sentenced to death by Sansa in Winterfell.

I love how Beta Ramsey tries to intimidate Jon's faction and has no effect like they keep watching him with a stone face. Is someone savage like Tormund really going to be intimidated by that bastard's mind games?đ
