"Things that don't exist anymore" – PAGERS.
well, not in Lebanon….
yahoo games, anyone?
My previous job had me ringing pagers for after hours call out techs right up till 2017. When I would ring the pager line,. I would get a recorded message telling me to press 9 or something similar. I always throught about the lady who recorded the message, and wondered if she did it at a desk way back in the 1980's using an old school tape recorder, and how things can just last through time like that.
I still use my gen 2 ipod nano to play music while 😅
PAGER ONE OF THE BEST THINGS EVER
Stolen and promoted by the algorithm
i never understood the beeper… i had one friend that had a beeper whilst in school (his parents had split up…very rare back then…but he got everything he wanted…he was also a single child). I remember telling him I would just call and if he wasn't in i'd leave a message with his mum — he said "yeah but with a beeper it will alert me and then I can find a phone and call you" – what if you are not near a phone? what if by the time you get to a phone I'm not near a phone? … all of us had the same thought and he got angry with us because no-one would call his bleeper and instead just use the house phone and leave messages with his mum. 6 months later mobile phones became affordable and we started to get them – both me and my sister got a Motorola phone … he was like "why do you have a phone… that's lame…pagers are better" — we kept our phones which was a lot more useful because i'd often bike to the next village and could go straight to the field to meet friends to play football and call my mum to say I arrived ok.
still have my tape walkman and my cd walkman and CD folder
I do miss the sony ericsson – I remember having one that had a camera cover you slid open and it launched the camera app – a whopping 2mp
why isn't myspace on the list??? – it was the biggest social media 2005-2009 when it blew up… everyone was using it until facebook took over
Stealing videos
