There will be 72 players in the WNBA that will not be protected. That means only 12 players can be chosen for the Valkyries, then you figure that the Valkyries will be gaining players through the normal draft (5th pick) and free agents. So you know they will pick the best players from the different teams and they might not even take all 12 players from the various teams.

I can't see them not protecting Lexie. I would love to see them get rid of Nalyssa Smith and see Katie Lou go in the draft. That would open up their cap to get a dedicated center (like Satou Sabally) and let AB play power forward. They should protect CC, Lexie, Kelsey, AB, Temi. I'm not sure about the 6th person. Dantas has done well in the minutes she's played. Wheeler could be a good back up and is a positive, veteran presence on the team.
