An estimated 40% of Americans are descended from people who passed through the Ellis Island immigration station during its six decades of operation. But what was the immigration process like? #HistoryChannel

This is only for school
they wanted to whiten the USA. So they gave them bunch of the wealth that black Americans built to start a new life after fleeing their homelands.
history class…
Kamala, Joe and Mayorkas
should be required to watch this and be quizzed on it afterwards. 🤨
My maternal grandparents entered the United States through Ellis Island in 1914. They came from Italy. Back in March 2002 I had the opportunity to visit Ellis Island with a tour group. It certainly gives you some idea how difficult their lives must have been.
Love it so so so so so so much
Imagine going to the US with no support system and expecting to work hard to get a better place in life for you and your kids. I’d much rather just enter to get on welfare systems and abuse free aid then complain when my life doesn’t get better.
America is a melting pot and if you don't agree you are fundamentally not American. Our history is fundamentally flawed but we strive not for a god, not for a land, not for a people, but for an ideal. I am a socialist and I still believe in a more perfect union.
Very cool video I love it 😻
Imagine being marked with a piece of chalk for “Lameness”….Lame.
I learned about this in Apush. And quite honestly, It's kinda disheartening to think that the people who are opposing illegal immigrants today, may very well be descendants of immigrants who entered through Ellis Island.
The original immigrants. These are the same people that hate on black people and act like we shouldn't be here. They came to a country that was already built by black Americans and white colonizers. These are your everyday neighbors etc. Remember that black man they will Always be guest in YOUR home. Reparations for slavery!

This answered none of my questions. Like why my family had to change their last name

Here from English homework
Sounds much easier to get in then
Let's do this again!! Come on we need people. America needs fresh immigrants that's how it works. Get the new ones legal and give them hope and they will work hard and do well.
“They’re not sending their best”
Imagine…if the border in Az, Ca and New Mexico… wait nvm. Free for all country USA🤡🇺🇸
I challenge every Black and Brown person to share this video, because many Europeans don't want them to know about where they came from illegally
They are fast to tell some one to go back to their country really
You immigrated from Europe remember
My great grandparents & my great uncles & my grandmother immigrated through Ellis Island between 1952 & 1953.
At least there was a system 😊
These are another group of people USA has allowed to Get Free Education, Homes, Employment, and treats Black Americans last or not at for opportunities!
like a kangaroo ?
Several of my family members were here 100 years before Ellis Island. I did hear that some came through in that era, but as far as I know all of them were here 100 years ago or earlier.
The music in the background of this video is incredibly loud & distracting and makes it very hard to focus on this subject matter
A tout les gens de ma classe qui verrait ça, c'est Virgile.
Stanislas c dla merde les gars

Ellis Island would actually make a good COD zombies map, Because of it's history that place could make a decent choice since some areas a decrepit
I want to go here man! I only docked on the side of it after leaving Statue of Liberty.
My last name is Ellis-
This video skipped the part about the IQ testing that was done at Ellis Island.

It’s a great place to go see if you are in NYC and interested in history.
Fast forward to today and it is a vastly different process for brown people arriving on foot. Why? Because the system of entry we have at the Southern Border is a racist system meant to prevent large numbers of brown people from entering the country.
