Hello everyone! In this week’s video, I am redesigning one of my old original characters! My brain has started to think about Inktober 2020. This year I want to make a short story about my characters Tokumei and Hime. But Hime design is really simple and not very interesting…so let’s see if I can fix it.

on top of the hoshizora koyuki there is the chinese version of the name that translate to starry sky light snow.

Your video reminded me of a Yu-Gi-Oh fic I wrote with a princess as the main character. She's inspired by (and named after) Princess Adena, but she has a very different personality from the original Adena 😁. The original Princess Adena was a princess npc from a video game Seto Kaiba designed and was gentle, wise, and kind, but very easily scared and kind of a flat damsel character common to nineties video games. My version is surprisingly brave (though being a young girl, can and does get scared when face to face with something crazy), and somewhat of a tomboy. She acts regal in public ("just quietly smiling and nodding along" as she puts it), but she has a mischievous, daring side and gets into trouble a lot. Since she's just eleven, she has a council of regency to help her run the country, but they don't let her do anything and make most of the decisions on their own without her input. Most of the time the trouble she gets into is because she's bored since her council won't let her do anything.

The first outfit is a hanfu !! its from chinese culture, the second one is a yukata/kimono, please don't mix them up.

You can use. ‘Unrealistic’ colours in the real world… hair dye exists. Just saying. For worldbuilding For clothing I advise thinking about the materials available and techniques as well as modesty laws and social expectations. Also always think about what they need to be able to do in the clothing and ensure they can move in in and do the activities they need to.
Why does the clothing float above the ground? It would get filthy and soaking wet and destroyed if it dragged in the floor. Consider the logical consequences of a design and its function.
Also how do they take it off and put it on? And will it be horribly uncomfortable? So think about how you can make it a bit more comfortable if needed.
Of course there are times when prioritizing appearance over comfort and function makes sense for the design.
Also special materials like the fur of a mythical creature or the scales of a dragon etc.
As for technique and invention what clasps are available/invented? Zippers?, different types of buttons, cords, wrapping techniques, etc.
How couture vs mass produced and how tailored or made to fit the exact character is it?
Finally how does the character express their individuality through their clothing? This is also effected by their ‘social status’ and wealth.
Some clothing also prioritized function over form like job clothing and uniforms. Design for the function/job first in such a case.

This is no hate but just information!!! The style of clothes and hair of hime are actually closer to chinese culture than japanese. The thing you did for the princess clothes is a hanfu :) but i love it

This is the first time I'm watching this video, and I think Hoshizora translates to 'Starlit' (at least according to google translate), Hoshi means star. I only know because one of my characters has that name. Except it's her given name, not the family name.

I love, how you blend different East Asian elements, like Hime's "sneaky" clothes are Japanese inspired, and her princessy one, is clearly Chinese inspired. And the best part is that it all works together so well! A lot of people just put characters in kimonos and yukatas and call it "Chinese" and vise versa, but you are very through about it.♥️
