Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Caveman Games for the Nintendo Entertainment System developed by Dynamix and published by Electronic Arts.

Long before touching was good and the first Wii Remote was waggled, there were minigame collections on Nintendo platforms. Even the Nintendo Entertainment System, which had games like California Games, World Games and of course, Caveman Games. This is a six-game collection of Olympic-style events, only with a prehistoric theme. Events include throwing your mate like a discus, beating up other cavemen with clubs and trying to outrun a saber-tooth tiger. The hilarious premise is combined with button-mashy minigames surprisingly similar to modern takes on the genre such as the Mario Party games. Caveman Games offers single-player and local multiplayer play.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Caveman Games for the Nintendo Entertainment System and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek.

We used to love this game! My dad use to beat me in it! Good times!

Another awesome thing about this game was it sold for a mere $25 when the rest went from $39.99 -> $59.99. It feels like yesterday seeing that yellow flip tag on the NES game wall at Toys R Us.

@stacyparejr7142 October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

You have to remember the game came out in 1988, it may be crappy today but back then it was awesome for most kids no doubt lol

You definitively didn't play fire start with another player. It's the best fun I ever had on the NES when we start hitting each other with the stick. Trust me and try it!

@xandygameryt October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

if you want to destroy your control and your fingers, play this game!

@rozbot86 October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

The review would be good if you were better at the game!

@EduardoGomez-gp8wj October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

If its 2014 why are you trying to release a DVD??

@R0Sak October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

I had real great times playing this game as a kid. I miss the early 90's

@alexsmith6607 October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

The feminist woman say Mario is the most sexist game ever made next to double dragon lol , I don't see how guess they missed this one.
But she dose give him a thumb up so it seems this is a idea they both did think of to be fun.

I used to love playing this with my friends as a kid.  It took forever to figure out how to actually play each game..

@OtownEman October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

I used to play this shit all the time!

@rodjoh October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

Sarkeesian would love this game

@SjaakadeliC October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

This game was first released on the C64 called Caveman Uglympics.

@bowlofrice1006 October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

For Pete's Sake!

@JohnnyFiction October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

Not a masterpiece by any means, but this games was actually more fun than you're giving it credit for.  For it's time, there were some really hilarious games you could play with your friends.  And by the way, fire starter is absolutely not button mashing.  Bonking your friend on the head was a legit strategy!… and it also stoked the flames.

2.04 Super Mario 64

@ZeFreakLizard October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

This looks pretty fun lol plus cave men and dinosaurs are awesome, I think I might want it hahaha

@theodorerelic2718 October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

What? The decade that gave us Live-Aid was culturally insensitive? The HELL you say! 🙂

(for the record, I spent most of my 20s in the 80s)

@chip41kitana23roblox October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

It looks more like a Intellivision game, not a NES game.

@stevenlornie1261 October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

Mate toss looks quite fun, I'll have to try that when I get home from work. Though unlocking the womans chain from the sink is going to be difficult.

@TubbyJ420 October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

i got this game way back as a kid and had a lot of fun with it.  i was able to master everything but the dang fire starting.  dino racing is actually quite difficult, you have to balance the dino's speed properly by hitting him on the heat with a stick. too many hits and he gets confused and goes backwards.  all while perfectly timing obstacle jumps if youve managed to go forward at a fast speed.  the pole vault requires very fast twitchy button pressing….or a turbo controller.  mate toss is easy to pick up  and you instantly are drawn to beating your high scores. i probably played that one the most. the mates' celebratory dance at the end is the best.

@jabmaster1000 October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

Who came up with this game?

@belstar1128 October 6, 2024 - 3:04 am

This game looks like a 5 year old made it.
